Dinner the other night, early enough to enjoy the chilled shrimp and 1/2 priced cocktail for happy hour. Sat on the covered outdoor patio, good combination of outside but not in the direct sunshine. Bree, our server was awesome. She was patient, attentive, kind and professional! The nachos we got were great. Not swimming in queso and loaded with fresh toppings! I asked for a lightly blackened mahi mahi sandwich which is exactly what I got. Great size piece of fish! So good! Loved the fries too; nice and crispy on the outside and soft potato inside. Every employee we encountered seemed happy to be there … and for me … that speaks volumes!

Just wanted to post a quick review after our visit last night. I only had the calamari so can’t comment much about the food. I wanted to give a shout out to our bartender Nicole. She was wonderful! Great sense of humor, accommodating, cheerful – just an all around delight! Stop in and say hi. You won’t regret it.

First time experiencing Backwaters Grill & Tavern of Redington Beach tonight. Was very busy, but was seated promptly upon arrival. We were greeted by multiple employees during the evening in which they were consistently making sure we were enjoying our visit. Our server, Taylor M, was outstanding in everything!!! Drinks were brought out promptly, appetizers were served efficiently. She even helped with menu recommendations which were extremely helpful!! We ordered the following for dinner: Lobster Seafood Eggrolls for an appetizer, Coconut Shrimp with garlic mashed potatoes, & the “Captain’s Platter” which was Fresh Caught Gulf Grouper, Shrimp & Scallops (I had it all blackened, with garlic mashed potatoes and vegetables as my sides). From the drinks, to the appetizers and food, everything was absolutely delicious!!! Plating was well done!! Kudos to the kitchen staff for excellent results and quality cuisine!! Interior of the restaurant had a clean and nautical atmosphere which added to the experience. Definitely looking forward to visiting again and also will be recommending to anyone looking for a great restaurant to dine while in the area!!!

Great blackened New York strip. It was excellent. My buddy had the fish and chips and it was good. The Firecracker shrimp appetizer was great. The atmosphere was great and is well done. Service was good. One thing it’s odd to me, to be down south and not have sweet tea.

Excellent restaurant. The blackened grouper was delicious. House side salad was really good too. Enjoyed a Jai Alia IPA from local Cigar City Brewing. Would be nice to see more local beers on tap

Reviews were good. We ordered ribs and grouper appetizer and calamari. Ribs tasted as if it were reheated and grouper had so much heat you couldn’t tell what you were eating. . Bill was 70.00. Food was horrible. Would not recommend as my last weekend at the beach.

We’ve been bar regulars at backwaters since they opened back in January of 2025 and we can not say enough wonderful things about the staff and environment! We love to come see all four of our bartenders Kaylee, Halle, Arika, and Nicole! We’ve followed a few of them from previous restaurants and will continue to support! You can tell gow much the staff actually enjoy to be here. We love you guys!
