I visited El Salvador Restaurant on Bonanza two days ago while shopping in the plaza. As a teaching moment for my children, we were looking at posted food safety grades at different restaurants. When we arrived, the grade wasn’t visible from outside, so I sent my 13-year-old daughter in to politely ask where it was located. I later confirmed with staff that she was respectful in her approach.
While this was happening, the owner began making negative comments toward my child, telling her to “mind her business” and questioning why she was asking. My daughter came back out to get me, and I went inside calmly to ask if there was a problem. From the start, the owner was hostile and made comments referencing media, social media, and Google reviews. I explained that we had no intention of writing a review and that this was simply a teaching experience. My child did not enter with a phone or record anything.
Despite this explanation, the owner continued to be disrespectful. Two other employees at the register, who spoke English well, were understanding and apologetic, and I appreciate their professionalism. Because there were customers dining, I chose not to escalate the situation and left.
As I was leaving, the owner attempted to take a photo of me, which felt unnecessary and uncomfortable. I later called and explained that the situation could have been resolved with an apology, but none was given. This review was never my intention initially, but the behavior left me no choice.
Customer service matters, especially in a public, family-friendly environment. Unfortunately, the owner’s conduct overshadowed the experience and felt discriminatory and unwelcoming, particularly given the location in the Westover area of Fayetteville.

4.5/5 overall

Great food and experience. The pupusa were they best I had in years – will have to try more in the area but definitely top 3. The slaw it came with was fresh and delicious.

Tacos were also amazing, the meet was tender and generous, balanced well with fresh veggies and lime.

Nachos and chip were also yummy and a nice serving size.

Kids tenders were light yet crispy, plenty of fries! No greasy mess – good ol meal.

Additionally they have several sodas and juices – we had the passion fruit and it was sweat, fruity and refreshing.

All four flavors of the papusas are fresh and tasty. About three is a full meal. However, I sometimes enjoy having one with another dish. Birria tacos are a go-to!

This place was amazing!!!

I can’t lie. It was amazing and cheap. Had pupusas, which I haven’t found since leaving Florida and they were great.

Plus had their drink of choice and it was delicious.
Sucks that this is not everywhere, but it makes you enjoy it that much more.

Great, awesome, go eat!!

Ordered a pupusa and sopa de res. The soup tasted like chicken with tough chunks of beef thrown in. This place is cutting corners. Never had a sopa with baby carrots — the potatoes and yucca were undercooked. I can guarantee you they use the same chicken broth for all their soups then just throw in the protein you ordered.

The pupusa was wet and soggy. When the head waitress came to ask how the food was I explained that the pupusa was wet and the veggies in the soup were undercooked. She just shrugged and said that’s how yucca is supposed to be. I’ve eaten yucca my entire life and have had Salvadoran food all over the place. They knocked that soup together in 15 minutes and served it to me.

There’s a lady who does pupusas out of a truck, massive pupusas, at night across the street next to the Walgreens. Go to her, much better. Also the prices on the menu are incorrect.

This place I tried .. never again ..
Chicken was dry and tuff like it was microwaved.
The so called shrimp was weird looking tasted like a big glob of rubber..
I ordered nachos requested pico & guacamole … Got plain ol Nacho’s barely covered in cheese.

That tasted like umm I don’t even know had a metal taste to it… So I assume can cheese.
The Puspa was just weird .. no particular taste to it.
Totally do not suggest this place.

The food looked very tasty, but a few hours after eating some pupusas from this restaurant I gotten very sick, throwing up and everything. After I went to the hospital I was informed that I had gotten food poisoning.

The place looks a little sketch but the taste is authentic and the prices are great. The drinks come in a generous amount.

Ordered shrimp, beef AND roast chicken for $17.99. Food came out with shrimp and beef only. Asked waitress for the roast chicken. She said, $21. THAT IS BAD BUSINESS!!!
