Joe and Paul Bartolotta grew up in a traditional Italian family in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Along with siblings, Maria and Felicia, they enjoyed large gatherings centered around unbelievably good food and plenty of love. In 1993, Joe and Paul collaborated to realize their dream of creating signature restaurants in Milwaukee. Paying homage to the family name, Ristorante Bartolotta opened in March of 1993. Over the next two decades, The Bartolotta Restaurants added a variety of fine dining and casual concepts to its portfolio. Joe, Paul and The Bartolotta Restaurants family will continue to grow their lineup of distinguished Southeastern Wisconsin venues.

The view at The Bartolotta Restaurant was fantastic, but unfortunately, the service was shockingly poor. After ordering drinks, we asked where we could sit and were told we could either sit by the water (self-serve) or upstairs where there is full service. We chose to sit at a lower patio area, assuming it was fine since we had just ordered.
A server then rudely approached us and told us we couldn’t sit there because it was “for patio customers only”—as if we weren’t customers ourselves after already placing a drink order. The way we were spoken to was very disrespectful and completely uncalled for.
It left a sour taste in our mouths, and we felt the entire experience was overrated. My wife and I will not return, which is unfortunate given the high expectations and our large European delegation present in Milwaukee.
Our food was served by someone different in the wait staff. The service became less and less as the time wore on. It appeared that our waiter was tending to other tables in a very large area of the restaurant. He never returned to our table again for the rest of the evening.
I’m extremely disappointed in Bartolotta’s as they have a big name reputation that they are incapable of providing. I don’t mind spending $175 for cocktails and dinner. HOWEVER, it wont be at Bartolottas again.
Everyone (and I do mean everyone) raved about the food. The meat trio of wild boar, venison and filet was a huge hit but the whitefish was to die for. The risotto was shared since the portions were so large. I heard there was swapping and sharing at almost every table. The food was hot and the service was excellent. Hats off to your incredible staff.
This wedding was a joy to plan because I was dealing with consummate professionals. The only surprise was that there were NO surprises. Thank you for a magical evening.
