Earlier this year, I went with my friend from Easton to Philadelphia to have cheesesteaks at Angelo’s. I asked him if there was a place with great cheesesteaks closer to him, since there really aren’t any where I live (which is in Morris County in the middle of north Jersey) and he recommended a place called SMP near Bethlehem. When I got there, they were closed, so I needed to make something out of my trip, and it turned out, this place was not only still open, but actually had way more reviews on Google, so I stopped by to give it a try.
What I liked:
Really cool at comic book and video game themed decor, i’m sure local kids come by to grab something to eat here on a regular. The girl working the counter was very friendly and helped me find better parking for my car. I ordered two cheesesteaks, one Philly style with whiz and onions, the other was a 610 (Lehigh Valley, PA-Warren County, NJ style) with Cooper Brand white American, onions, red sauce, and pickles (yes, pickles, don’t knock it till you try it). Both came on some very good quality seeded hoagie rolls from Liscios Bakery in south Jersey. I also got some buffalo-ranch pierogies that I enjoyed.
What I didn’t like:
While the sandwiches as a whole were good and well portioned, they don’t use actual shaved ribeye, but rather those frozen chip steak patties that you’ll see at a place like Jersey Mikes that are just a step above steak-umm but a step below actual shaved rib ribeye. I’ve had pretty good cheesesteaks before that were made with chip steak and this is no exception, but the BEST ones I’ve had always use real ribeye, so theirs by default fall short of that. Also, the parking by the place does suck, thank God the woman at the counter knew a better place for me to park walking distance away.

Overall verdict:
This place as a whole is worth 4 stars. It’s got an awesome decor and family friendly atmosphere, and very good customer service. I would rate their cheesesteaks a 7 1/2 out of 10 (really good rolls, Cooper Brand American cheese and real Kraft cheese whiz, well portioned, sauce on the 610 was on point, chip steak was OK, but if they used real ribeye, this would’ve been a whole point higher and a top 10 ever steak for me). Better parking would definitely help this place out as well.

Cheesesteak spot with a fun decor themed around retro video games. The classic cheesesteak is consistently great: tender browned chipped beef with a very thick, creamy cheesy consistency in crusty bread that doesn’t fall apart.

I often go here when I crave the garlic parm fries. Sure, it’s a greasy bucket of sin that clogs up my arteries, but it hits the spot. It’s so cloying that I don’t want to touch it again for a good 3-4 months. Rinse and repeat.

Portions here are absurd. I can’t finish the kid’s meal—not sure whose kids they’re feeding. You can probably order the adult combo meal and split it across two full meals. In other words, great value.

Staff was very nice and friendly. The cashier was great and took care of me. The garlic parm fries may have been the best fries that I have ever had. Cheese steak was amazing as well. It was the best I have ever had outside of Philadelphia. Well done. Will definitely be back if I am ever in the area again.

It’s retro decor was a nice reminder of good times! The free arcade games were fun to enjoy while waiting for my order to be prepared! The food had a unique flavor that I would stop in & enjoy if I was in that area more often! The seating was comfortable, I really enjoyed my experience overall! You have to stop in to see exactly what they are all about!

I somehow neglected to write a review on this spot and I visited a couple years ago now. For my birthday I just wanted to choose a spot I hadn’t yet been to so my gf and I came here and grabbed some food. We split a cheesesteak with fried onions and their house made Wiz and some fresh cut fries. The employees were very nice, and décor was sick! It was all like old school video game and show references from the 80’s and 90’s.

The steak was solid. The meat was fresh and tender, I believe it was sirloin. Some places use sirloin, some use ribeye, whatever…one way or another, it was tasty. The roll stood up to the sandwich well and I enjoyed their house made wiz (I do prefer Cooper Sharp though for sure). I have heard a lot of people say they think the steaks here are salty, I personally didn’t experience that and I am pretty sensitive to salt.

The house cut fries were great. I love a good fresh cut fry and they were done properly. It’s always a gamble ordering them, but this was a win for sure.

People like it, don’t like it, whatever. Ultimately you won’t know til you go try for yourself anyway. For me – Wiz Kidz – Didn’t Suck!

Got the wiz kid cheesesteak with garlic parm fries. Cheesesteak was awesome! Love the mix of cheeses. Bread was soft and tasty. Steak and onions were cooked perfectly. Best cheesesteak I’ve had. The atmosphere was awesome, as an 80’s/90’s kid lots of nostalgia. Some arcade games as well. If im ever back in the area again, I’m hitting this place first thing.

first time here. It was pretty good. I had the Buffalo chicken Pierogie bowl. The guy asked me if I wanted blue cheese or ranch. I told him ranch. My Husband got a cheese steak a bottle of soda. When I saw the total, I questioned him on the cost of the Pierogies bowl. It was more than on the menu. He told me he was fixing it which he didn’t! When I looked at the receipt, I was charged for the ranch!?!?!?! He asked me which I wanted and then charged me $1.38 for it???? That aside, I let my Husband try mine. He liked it better than his steak sandwich. I tried his steak sandwich and also liked mine more.

Where’s the meat?
This might have been the saddest cheesesteak I’ve had in a while. Idk if it’s because I’m minutes from SMP in Whitehall but what a letdown.

My boyfriend and I learned about this place from a TikTok. We both love cheesesteaks, so we gave it a try. The cheesesteaks are HUGE! We both have big appetites and can eat, but we each struggled to get through the larges we ordered. He got the judgment day cheesesteak. Be warned, it lives up to the spiciness! It was great, but just really spicy (so if you’re on the fence, maybe order a different cheesesteak and add some spice). I got the CBR. It was phenomenal. I would personally add some kind of fresh or pickled something to the sub next time. It was amazing in itself, but really rich. The freshness or something pickled would cut down the richness for me. (It was good as is, just my opinion!) Fries were good, but the real winner was the Wiz. Order a side for sure when you order the fries. If you don’t, you’re missing out. I’ve never had a cheese sauce so well seasoned in my life. If you don’t even understand how a cheese sauce could be seasoned, you’ve got to give them a try. They’re doing all the right things, we just ordered too much food! If you’re in the area (or you’re far away), make a point to stop here. You won’t be disappointed.
