7:30pm reservation 2/26/26: My husband and I book a last minute reservation and initially everything was perfect. Service was prompt and the food was great. It’s really unfortunate that I have to write this negative review because we were really happy with everything up until the end of our meal…
Fast forward to the end of our meal and I ask the server to bring me a to-go box for the rest of my meal. I had ordered one of their specials that includes an entire lobster in its shell. I did not feel comfortable eating the lobster in the restaurant because of how messy it would be, so I figured I would just eat the rest at home. So the server offers to have my food boxed for me, I barely touched the lobster on my plate and I figured they would have seen that. The server hands my plate off to her assistant and she comes back with a tiny box with a few noodles and no lobster. Ummm… they threw my lobster away. It was an accident sure, but the manager tries to rectify it by only giving me part of my lobster. This meal alone was nearly $70 and you’re telling me I just spent that just to not be able to enjoy the main part because of a mistake made by your employee? I told our server that we will not be returning. With as much as your restaurant charges, there’s no reason you guys couldn’t have either comped the meal or made a new one for me. Ridiculously greedy.

Went to Gaston’s for the first time on Valentine’s Day and ended up waiting over a hour for our food. My steak was cold and doesn’t look anywhere near a NY Strip that should cost anywhere near $60. Walmart sells better steaks than this and my baked potato was burnt and all the bacon bits were burnt for the most part as well. Only thing that was avg was our server. Don’t recommend this place and I don’t plan on being back

We stopped in for the lunch hour while out shopping. Our bartender was amazing and she patiently answered our questions as it was our first time. We ordered an appetizer and two dinners with wine that was recommended..everything was excellent. The atmosphere is beautiful and the service was spot on. Will definitely be going back. Be sure to check the dress code for the dinner hour.

First time here was for my wife’s birthday. The atmosphere was nice but the kitchen took forever to get our food out. I would say it took about 45 minutes to get our dinner and all we ordered was pasta and seafood. To be fair the banquet room was in use. So maybe the kitchen was backed up? The calamari was good but the flavor was bland. The shrimp scampi had huge shrimp but no flavor/spices added. The spicy seafood pasta was good but very oily. This place is not very kid friendly but we made it work. They said they offered kid options. Their kid options for 4 normal pieces of shrimp and butter noodles were $25. The shrimp scampi was $28 so I’ll let you ponder that one. But none the less the waitress was awesome and overall it was a good time.

This is our absolute favorite restaurant in Virginia Beach. The food is gorgeous, the cocktails excellent, and it is beautiful and very comfortable inside. The service is wonderful. Have dinner on the lively bar side, and let Bobby make you a fantastic cocktail! Dress up a bit and have a special evening. Fantastic!

My husband and I have dined at Gaston’s several times. We enjoy the atmosphere and the service, but the steaks have consistently been disappointing. We visited again on Valentine’s Day and ordered a strip steak and a petite filet mignon. Both were dry and somewhat tough. At a price point of $60, the quality should be higher, especially when the steaks are cooked as ordered.
In comparison, I have recently had petite filets at Outback Steakhouse that were noticeably more tender, flavorful, and juicy, and they cost about $29. I am willing to pay more for a nicer restaurant, but it is important to receive the level of quality that matches the price.

While staying in VA Beach I wanted to get away from the places at the beach and try something a little more local and after reading all the rave reviews about this place, I came here for dinner on a Thursday night. I made a reservation for just me and when I got there they were moderately busy, but I chose to sit at the bar, since I was solo. The bartender was great, very personable, friendly, and very helpful in describing the menu and ensuring his guests were all well-taken care of.
Their menu is loaded with many interesting and plenty unique Italian dishes. Not only steak, as their name indicates, but also pastas and other Italian specialties. Their soup on the day I visited was pasta fagioli, so I got a bowl and it was really good… loaded with all the typical items and tasty. Their table bread was a small order of their focaccia, which resembled more of a naan thickness, look, texture, and taste… But I’m not complaining, it was really good and tasted great when dipped in the accompanying tomatoes and EVOO.
My entrée consisted of their Chicken Farcito. When I asked the bartender what he thought of it, he said it was amazing and he wasn’t lying! The flavors of the filling and the sauce worked very well with the chicken. The potato served with it was incredible and the asparagus was awesome. It all came together so nicely – definitely something to try! Since I was tossing between getting this and getting their Pappardelle Meatballs I ordered the Pappardelle Meatballs to go to enjoy as lunch the next day. That was also very nice! The meatballs were flavorful and the texture was perfect. I still find it a tough decision to have to decide between the two.
Save room for dessert, their Zabaglione was excellent! He suggested trying it with port, which I did and he was right – that’s the way to go!
Overall, excellent visit… I’ll definitely return!

Gaston’s is a really nice, upscale restaurant and always a great experience. I always get the chicken alfredo, and it’s absolutely delicious every time. The drinks are good, well made, and pair nicely with the food.
There is definitely a dress code here I wouldn’t wear jeans, and no hats. It has more of a classic, elegant vibe, which makes it perfect for a nice dinner or special occasion.
Great food, great drinks, and a polished atmosphere. Highly recommend if you’re looking for something a little more refined in Virginia Beach.
