SOMMWHERE
If you’re looking for a taste of home away from home, you must pay a visit to the Garden House. Always serving delicious, healthy, organic Mediterranean/ Middle Eastern meals- served with a side of love!!!! Naheda (the owner and chef) is a unique host who will feed you an authentic, tasty plate of food.
There is also a small provisions market, with unique, hard to come by spices, oils, spreads and more.
There’s nothing like it!

Hospitable staff serving delicious Mediterranean cuisine. Gorgeous décor, and in season the garden is open, allowing for Al fresco dining. No beers on draft but there are bottled beers. Clean bathroom. Unpaved parking in the rear. In October 2019 the Ulster County Libertarian Party convened here.

This is a place where 5 stars are not enough! The food is incredibly good, and super fresh – everything is done right at the spot. The owners are beyond friendly. They heard we had a birthday girl with us, and they made the most amazingly delicious surprise cake for us. Big thank you for being such a great host! Can’t wait to try the pizza too!!!

The best restaurant we’ve been to in the Hudson Valley. It feels like you’re being served food in someone’s home. Absolutely amazing!

This may have been an off night, but we will never return to find out. Our server was loud and rude. We waited a very long time for everything. We were never offered water. I was told to get my own drink out of the fridge in the dark corner somewhere and then told not to. I asked for a Coke. I was eventually offered a Diet Coke or a ginger ale. The server told us she was “helping out” and not getting paid. She made us extremely uncomfortable. We were afraid to eat the food and decided to leave. And when they charged us $5 for a can of soda I didn’t ask for and $22 for a double shot of whiskey, we knew they did not want us to stay. The server told us that there was another restaurant down the street.
I had really been looking forward to eating here. It was extraordinarily disappointing. We will never eat their food. We will never go back to the Garden House.

Very nice place to eat, indoors or out, fabulous Mediterranean options. I had an exquisite roasted eggplant meal with seasoned rice and scrumptious salad and my dining partner had the lamb and raved about it. Delicious Turkish coffee and super yummy fresh homemade desserts. Not the least expensive option, a choice selection for a special meal with special people.

The place is fun. We were asked our names and offered an apple from their tree. There was an outside fire pit. The menu has lots of things (sandwiches, pizza) but we of course focused on the Mediterranean (Mid-Eastern?) which sure makes sense to me. It’s cooked from scratch, comes out fast and is spicy (which we liked). The bar outside looks like it would fit in on Bermuda. FYI: I offered to pay cash — good thing — since their credit card machine isn’t working (and from a review I read from 2 months ago, it wasn’t working then, either). So think cash (or ask first!).

A unique experience, with minted carafes of water, Arabic music on the background, and intriguing décor. There is al fresco seating both on the front and back side of the restaurant, which was avoided during this review due to a rainstorm. The food is Middle Eastern, with carnivorous and vegetarian selections. There is a selection of bottled microbrews, several wines and sodas. Dessert is also offered. There is wi-fi, but the code was not requested during this review. The parking lot in the back is shared with local businesses, including a theatre, so it can be busy. The bathroom is clean and includes a shower, which undoubtedly somebody must have tried after three pinot grigios! On May 28th, 2021 the Ulster County Libertarian Social Club convened at this location.

My friends and I stumbled across garden house after spending the evening at a local swimming hole and were so happy we did! The atmosphere is eclectic and warm, and we loved sitting under the outdoor bar awning adorned with hats and string lights. The two women working were welcoming despite us showing up late in the evening, and all of the food was absolutely excellent! We got the vegetarian appetizer sampler, the savory fig flatbread, and the grilled cod. Everything was delicious, fresh, and portions were large – especially the “small” sampler and “small” pizza, which were perfect to split amongst the three of us. We will definitely be back, and want to return with friends!

We had high hopes for this spot, as it had an interesting menu. Alas, hopes were dashed by a gluten free pizza served on thick, gummy and strangely fermented (to the point of tasting slightly spoiled) dough. Mentioned fermentation issue to the chef; she told us it was normal for gluten free dough (it isn’t, or at least shouldn’t be). Paid the bill ($23) and left most of the pizza uneaten. Despite the charming location, I wouldn’t eat here again.
