Everything here is top notch. Traditional Chicago experience any time of day. Service is absolutely terrific. Food is outstanding. I think I have tried almost everything on the menu. It is impossible to make a bad choice. Burger, fries, soup, and some bruschetta are on the menu for me tonight. Cannot wait. Joey is one of a kind. I am consistently blown away by his character, attitude, and how pleasant he is with every single person that walks through the door.

Great place to stop in for a fresh slice if you need something quick on your lunch break, or one of their many delicious sandwiches. Highly recommend the Pot roast sandwich, Its delicious! not dry, and the seeded bread was fresh.

Paid my first visit here very recently. Put in an order for a 14″ thin-crust plain cheese pie, and after a short wait, my pizza was good to go. The interior of Al’s was neat and tidy with clean floors and clean tables and interesting photographs and other memorabilia on their walls. Tore into it straight away once I got home. Cracker thin crust and dough with a very nice audible crunch to the crust and a beautiful undercarriage. The cheese was well-seasoned, rich, dense, and wonderfully fragrant.

Edit: Had a bummer of an experience recently. Coworkers decided to have an end-of-the-week pizza party, so we called and ordered three 24″ party pizzas for delivery. Driver showed up an hour later after calling the wrong phone number despite giving them the correct one to call. Asked if he had brought any paper plates or napkins and he said, “you guys didnt ask for any”. Like, for real, man? We just ordered 3 party pizzas and spent $115 to feed 13 people and paper plates aren’t already immediately supplied to go with the pizzas? Dude then said, “well, we threw in a coupon for the next time.” We read the fine print on it and it says you have to collect TWENTY of those coupons to even redeem their offer! Anyway, picked up the food and realized the boxes weren’t even warm anymore and once we got to the break room we confirmed that the pizzas were already room temperature and smushed together during transit. Not sure how long this dude had the pizzas in the car and how erratically he was driving and but they were definitely jostled around with pieces overlapping one another making several small mountains the way Earth’s tectonic plates do when they collide, and on top of that they were also no longer warm. We all grabbed slices and we all noticed there was barely any sauce in any of the 3 pizzas we ordered (1 cheese, 1 sausage, & 1 pepperoni). It was super dry and practically flavorless because it was seriously lacking in one of the 3 most important components to a pizza – pizza sauce. It was such an incredible disappointment and a huge embarrassment on my part as I had hyped them all up for what I said was going to be an awesome pizza experience given my previous visits in the past. Such a bummer. Big waste of money. Never again with the 24″ pizzas from here. I have brought shame and dishonor upon my dojo. Our disappointment was immeasurable, and our day was ruined. Cheers.

My gold standard for pizza has always been Roberto’s in Elmhurst, which I grew up on and still love to this day. Since moving to this area, I’ve tried a number of local favorites to try to find a replacement for Roberto’s. I was looking for “good enough,” not expecting to find something better than my all time favorite.

Dare I say Al’s is my new favorite. The sauce, cheese, sausage, crust, are all excellent. More importantly – they are consistent. Always good. I’ve come to crave this more than my childhood comfort pizza, Roberto’s. This is a special place.

Very good pizza slices. Piping hot and fresh. Lots of flavor. Lots of sauce. Prices are insanely fair . Nine bucks for two slices and a pop! Not bad at all. Place is clean. Staff is very friendly. Lots of parking.
Too bad mom and pop places like this are slowly going away. This place is great
