A Hidden Gem in McClellanville: T.W. Graham & Co. Delights the Senses!
If you’re wandering the charming streets of McClellanville, South Carolina, and your stomach starts rumbling for some authentic Lowcountry flavor, make a beeline for T.W. Graham & Co. This historic general store-turned-deli is an absolute must-visit, and let me tell you, it’s not just the food that makes it unforgettable—it’s the whole vibrant experience wrapped around it!
First off, the owner is a true character straight out of a Southern novel. With his booming laugh, endless stories about the town’s quirky history, and that infectious charisma that draws you in like a moth to a porch light, he turns every visit into a lively conversation. He’s the kind of guy who remembers your name on your second trip and slips in a local tip or two, making you feel like family from the get-go. But while his colorful personality adds that extra sparkle, it’s the food that steals the show and keeps you coming back for more.
Oh, the portions! Generous doesn’t even begin to cover it—these are platters piled high with Southern comfort that could feed a small army (or just one very happy solo diner with leftovers for days). We’re talking massive sandwiches stacked with fresh, local shrimp straight from the nearby waters, slow-smoked pulled pork that melts in your mouth, and sides like creamy coleslaw and hushpuppies that are crisp on the outside and fluffy within. Every bite bursts with flavor: the spice rub on the BBQ hits just the right smoky-sweet note, the seafood is so fresh it tastes like it leaped from the Atlantic onto your plate, and don’t even get me started on their homemade pimento cheese—it’s creamy, tangy perfection that elevates a simple cracker to gourmet status.
What truly sets T.W. Graham apart is how every dish feels made with love and local pride, using ingredients sourced right from the Lowcountry. It’s hearty, soul-satisfying fare that’s as comforting as a warm hug on a foggy morning by the Wando River. Prices are fair for the quality and quantity, and the casual, no-fuss vibe means you can grab a stool at the counter or take it to go for a picnic by the water.
In a world of chain eateries, T.W. Graham & Co. is a refreshing reminder of what real, flavorful Southern hospitality looks like. Five stars aren’t enough—I’ll be back next time I’m in town, and you should too. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you!

I just want to say great experience. Loved how friendly the owner and employees were. Felt like going to mom’s house. Phenomenal food. Actually the shrimp, hushpuppys, slaw and red rice were the best I’ve had. AND the pie….OMG. Love this pace and appreciate the genuine southern hospitality. 100% will be back.

I can’t say enough good things about this restaurant tucked away off the beaten path. The food was fresh and delicious, our young waitress was helpful with my food restrictions, and the owner told us exactly where our choices had been caught. Is it cheap? No. Is it worth the price? Absolutely. This is a great example of getting what you paid for. We got there early and got seated immediately. Right after us a short line started forming but was cleared out quickly.

I went to eat at this restaurant in August with my husband’s family (I am Italian and my husband is American). We were a lot (two tables). The service was excellent and the food incredibly good. The best shrimps I ever had in my life. The fried green tomatoes were also amazing. IT WAS ALL SOOOO GOOD. The owner was also so friendly and nice to talk to. WONDERFUL PLACE!

I was so looking forward to eating at T.W. Graham & Co. We had heard about this place for years. I loved the atmosphere, but their food was underwhelming. Oysters and shrimp were overfried, their house tartar sauce was not good, sweet potato fries cold, and their hush puppies nothing to talk about. We must have gone on the wrong night! New cook? I will say though that their service was great. Glad we went to see their quaint little town.

Really enjoyed the shrimp. Very fresh, blackened flavor, sweet, and worth the wait. Booth seat was very “worn in” and sunk down was only complaint. I felt like my chin was just about on the table and I needed a booster seat! Lol. One doesn’t go here for the atmosphere. One goes here for the food. Beyond excellent scallops. It’s a funky little place off the beaten path that one MUST experience!

Literally stumbled upon this little gem of a restaurant while out exploring SC, off the beaten path. How can you not stop in for lunch at a place protected by pirates!? The atmosphere was charming, the food fresh, hot and delicious and the service first class. Lagniappe was the warm, friendly conversations I enjoyed with my fellow diners. One couple was there donating an old family heirloom, an antique cash register from a beloved granddad’s store, to the collection of South Carolinian artifacts. Another charming couple shared ideas for additional places I should explore in the area including the beautiful St. James Church out on the Old Georgetown Road aka the Old King’s Road in the Wambaw Tract.

5-4-23 Wife and I decided to come here today since we saw seafood on the menu. We were not disappointed. We both had the flounder and shrimp combo plate, which comes with slaw, fries and 2 hushpuppies. The shrimp were large, lightly breaded, and great taste. The flounder was also lightly breaded, piping hot and free of bones. The slaw had a bit too much vinegar for me, but wife said reminded her of where she grew up. The tarter has a heavy dill taste, but not bad.
The host and waitress were both extremely friendly and accommodating. It seemed like everyone, whether returning locals or first timers like us, was greeted the same way, like old friends.

Always a treat! Stopped for lunch on the way home from Brookgreen Gardens. Enjoyed the seared tuna and crab patty sandwich. Fresh and delicious as always.
