The Big Dipper Creamery family has been in the ice cream industry for three generations, opening our first ice cream shop in Sarasota, Florida in 1990. In 2003, we built Big Dipper Creamery in Blaine, Minnesota emphasizing our commitment to handcrafted, quality ice cream by using fresh, local farmer’s natural cream. By using natural, locally sourced cream we handcraft our ice cream in small batches and pour passion into every cup, cone, malt, sundae, split, bar, quart, pint, and cake. We have 52 flavors every day and we are proud of every single handcrafted flavor. A scoop of ice cream is always tempting but we also have other services at Big Dipper Creamery!

Big Dipper Creamery in North Oaks is a fantastic spot for anyone who loves high-quality ice cream with a wide variety of flavors. Today, I tried their brownie deluxe and pistachio combo, and both flavors were excellent—rich and satisfying. Previously, I had their brownie fudge and chocolate combo in an Oreo-dipped sugar cone, which was equally delicious. The texture and taste of the ice cream are always spot-on, and the variety of options means there’s something for everyone, including those with dietary restrictions.
The shop itself has a friendly atmosphere and is a great place to bring family or friends. While the prices are on the higher side, the quality of the ice cream and the unique flavor combinations make it worth it. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Big Dipper Creamery is definitely worth a visit!

Medium size waffle cone was a very large amount of ice cream and it was delicious. Dairy free selections on hand. Only chocolate dairy free the day I went, but it was delicious and I was happy to have something to eat that wasn’t sorbet

The ice cream here is AMAZING!!!! The cones are actually flavorful too! I’ve never had a waffle cones or sugar cones I’ve liked until I’ve been here and the sef ice was wonderful! The lady who helped us was very kind and patient, I had a few questions and she was happy to answer. She was really patient with my kids too.

When we first walked in, the workers didn’t greet us, even though they looked right at us. There was not a lot of options to choose from. We ended up ordering but the ice cream was pretty sweet and not flavorful. Not impressed, but worth a try if you want ice cream.

This ice cream shop has a great selection for people of all ages. Our granddaughter loved the Lavender flavor. There is also a nice range of dairy free flavors, much more than a couple sorbets! Excellent all around. Its worth the drive.

A lot of fun flavors. A tad on the pricey side for cones, so we’ve started getting pints or quarts to go. (At $8/pint, still much pricier than the grocery store, but it’s a special treat.)

Hand scooped ice cream with tons of variety and available flavors makes this a gem. Great selection of pints and mini-pints ready to go, too. Clean store, friendly staff, and the owner helps support the local hockey association, too!
