Even though the bar is not on top of the building I did enjoy the ambience. It is a perfect place to have drinks. They currently don’t serve food for now but they are working on that. I actually enjoyed all the drinks I ordered. The bartenders Russell and Ash were awesome. I will definitely be visiting again.

My favorite place to unwind and enjoy a few drinks ! I love their menu and how easily they can just create you a drink on top of their head!

Love the friendly and attentive staff!
I always love the vibes and love the events they have there too!

it’s a roof top – of the 2nd floor! I was always thinking it was the very top. it isn’t. You get to see just how low you are on the same exact building…

It was good food, not great but good. The cheese platter had a nice selection, the quiche was fresh but, the eggs with the eggs Benedict were pretty firm. We saw that a lot of people raved about the staff in other reviews but we had very very little interaction with staff. Since you order on the app, we only saw someone when our drinks and food were delivered. I do love the concept though. Not any place like it in the Fresno region.

Wow! The small, eclectic menu was fabulous and the menus for both the special drinks and regular drinks gave lots of creative choices. I had the stone fruit old fashioned – maybe the best old fashioned I’ve ever had. Everyone enjoyed both their drink and food selections immensely.
Our waiter Paul, was as good as they come – personable, knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor.
Don’t be alarmed when they only send you to the 2nd floor of the building, for a “rooftop bar” experience. You’ll see.
We had a 6 PM reservation and sat out on the patio and enjoyed the temperature dropping and the cooler breezes.
Fantastic all the way around!

Went with my best friend. Had a nice time. Hipster vibes were awesome. Healthy food and drink choices. The assistant manager was our waiter outside on the rooftop and he was the best! The other staff were attentive and kind also:) Lovely place, good vibes, highly recommend. Bit on the pricey side, but totally worth it.

A hip 2nd floor outdoor balcony restaurant & bar with fun cocktails, a cool vibe & delicious bites. Don’t miss out on the grilled cheese; yum!
Nothing this cool was in Fresno when I lived here in the mid 90s. Now the downtown Fulton “mall,” (called a mall because the street used to be shut down to traffic,) is trying to find its hipster heartbeat with spots like this.
We went on a perfect March Central Valley night and sat on the patio terrace. (They call it rooftop, but technically it’s not on the roof of this historic building. It’s on the 2nd floor.) The patio filled up for a Tuesday night. But our server was delightful & didn’t miss a beat with all the tables he was handling.
We went knowing it was lite bites for food. But it was perfect for a happy hour dinner. Especially their delicious grilled cheese which came with a side salad.
Perfect way to spend a spring night in the Central Valley.

Quail State really oversold itself online and under-delivered in person.

I came here excited to check out the rooftop since Quail State advertises itself as Fresno’s only rooftop bar. Unfortunately, the rooftop was closed for a private event that wasn’t listed anywhere on their Google account. Inside was uncomfortably hot—no proper AC, just swamp coolers. The bartender seemed rushed, and the drinks were mediocre at best. For $17 a drink, I expected much better quality and larger portions. Definitely not worth the hype.

Separate Note on Service:
When I asked the bartender what drink he recommends or what his best drink is, he seemed annoyed by the question. His reaction actually made me feel uncomfortable enough that I decided to leave. He did say he was sorry once he realized I noticed his anger, but the experience had already been soured. For a bar that advertises itself as a top spot, that kind of service was really disappointing.

I’ve had the pleasure of eating here several times since they opened and got to experience their 7 course tasting menu recently as well. I am beyond Ecstatic that they made it through opening during Covid. Not only a beautiful and unique location (especially for Fresno, go downtown revitalization!) but they have spectacular food and drinks. During the tasting menu, each course and drink was better than the last, if that’s even possible. The owners really care about what they’re doing and the product they put out, and usually stop by the tables to chat. I can’t recommend this place enough. Go support them and help us to keep the downtown gem.

My cousin and I went to the bar and liked everything so much that we made reservations for the next night on the patio! The restaurant is classy with a great vibe and the menu design for mystery drinks is a fun, unique option that I’ve never seen before. You MUST try the ancho dusted fruit dessert when you visit – it is so, so delicious, I’ll be dreaming about it for weeks. The tacos were also amazing.

While everything is great here, what really makes the Quail State shine are the staff. They’re all wonderful, friendly, and warm, and they really make the restaurant stand out. The Quail State is a credit to the owners, who we had the pleasure of meeting last night as well. Try this place out asap!! If you like it half as much as I do, you’ll be back again for seconds (and maybe thirds) within the month!!
