We went on a weekday around 5:30 pm and by the time we left, the place was completely filled—always a good sign. The ramen was really, really good. While the vegetarian options are limited, we ordered the Earth Ramen bowl and it was delicious. I loved that you can do add-ons like extra veggies and egg, which made it more customizable.
The broth was very flavorful, and they give you the option to adjust spice levels as well as choose your noodle type. I got the spinach noodles and my husband chose the egg noodles—both were great. Portions are generous and satisfying.
The interiors are modern and nicely done, service was quick, and overall it was an amazing experience. Definitely a place we’d come back to for both the food and the vibe.
Ramen Wakusei in San Jose is incredibly creative and thoughtful of their ramen selections. Their menu features unique combinations of ingredients and flavors that set them apart from any ramen place we’ve tried before. Every bowl feels thoughtfully crafted, both in presentation and taste.
We ordered the Neptune Ramen and the Saturn Ramen, and both were outstanding.
The Neptune Ramen is packed with seafood goodness — the shrimp, sea bass fillet, and scallops were all tender and perfectly cooked. The broth, made from pork bone, bonito, and scallop, was rich, flavorful, and layered with umami depth. It’s a perfect harmony bowl of seafood ramen.
The Saturn Ramen was equally impressive, offering a bold yet balanced flavor profile. Despite being labeled as spicy, it wasn’t spicy — just enough to give a gentle kick. The highlight was the crispy soft-shell crab, which added a wonderful texture and flavor. Just be sure to enjoy it quickly so it stays perfectly crunchy and doesn’t soften in the broth.
The fried chicken karaage was nicely seasoned and tender.
Overall, Ramen Wakusei delivers a distinctive and elevated ramen experience that goes beyond the traditional. From the creative concepts to the quality of ingredients, everything was top-notch. Highly recommended for anyone looking to explore innovative ramen with exceptional flavor and presentation!
Ramen was so tasteful, not salty.
My chuldren like Donkatsu with Curry sauce.
But I felt that rice should be improved because a balance between curry and rice was not good. I believe this place will become perfect when they change the rices. Except this, this place is a very good japanese food restaurant.
Very clean and kind staffs.
Menu is also very interesting.
Would recommend the Mercury over the Mars. Cheese on shrimp is unusual for this kind of place, but an inspired idea.
Pictured are karaage, takoyaki, Mercury, and Mars.
Inside we are seated immediately. The menu has several normal/creative options, including a vegetarian option called Earth and a bold option with a whole softshell crab called Saturn. We ended up ordering the Venus and Mars. Food came out quickly, and presentation is solid. Ingredients tasted fresh, meat was juicy as expected and the thin noodle portion is quite large. The sweet/tangy pickles, while visually pleasing, clashed in taste with the light broth. I was hoping for a deeper flavor with the broth (even with the black garlic sauce) but I did appreciate that it was lighter in oil/salt compared to most other ramen places. Service is great/attentive, and the price is standard to higher-end for ramen.
Their broth strikes the perfect balance—flavorful without being too heavy, complemented by quality toppings. The pork is notably fresh, and the soft shell crab is a must-try dish. For those sensitive to spice, alternative broth options are available upon request. Their Venus dish, featuring shrimp with perfectly melted cheese, is another standout. Overall, this restaurant is truly impressive.
They just changed new style noodle , tested great !
New opening Ramen restaurant @Sunnyvale .
This ramen soup base has light but flavorful taste, and the ramen noodles without the kansui taste is quite delicious.
The dining environment is clean and comfortable with lovely decorations!
The atmosphere is cool, there is a moon on the wall. All the ramen items with a planet name which match the name of the restaurant.(wakusei means planet in Japanese)
Our server is a young man he did not explain anything about the menu so we just studying by ourselves.
We ordered premium Mercury, regular Mars, takoyaki, spring roll edamame sticks and chicken karaage.
Premium Mercury is for my hubby, he likes the butterfly shrimp with cheese which is a unique topping. The soup base tastes like tonkotsu with seafood, which is not too heavy. The noodles is al dente and easy to chew.
I ordered Mars with mild spicy flavors. The soup base is flavorful. The thin noodles is also al dente and smooth. A good balance of texture and flavor.
The side order chicken karaage is complimentary during soft opening. The batter of the chicken is a little bit too thick and did not come with lemon and chill powder.
Takoyaki is so soft inside my daughter loves this item.
Spring roll edamame sticks is interesting. They use wonton skins wrapped the edamame. Looks cute but tastes just okay.
Overall, I would like to come back this place for the noodles but not those sides.
P.S. I saw other reviews the noodle should come with a piece of fried lotus root but we did not have it, maybe they forget it.
