Amazing food and drinks! We loved the ceviche and scallop appetizer, and the grilled bass was incredible — served with avocado, pickled vegetables, and tortillas. The mezcalita and Paloma were both excellent. Breakfast was also great! The buffet looked delicious, but we preferred ordering from the à la carte menu — the chilaquiles were outstanding. Highly recommend!

This was not my first choice of restaurant, but I want to say that the staff really made it a great experience. We had a couple of different plates and 0 complaints. Their house bread is made with beats and their house spread was amazing. I never had anything like that in the states. Their pollo was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Thei cheeseburger with flor de Calabasas was also really juicy and delicious. Balta also had decent views of the Angel de Independencia.

The place is really pretty, a rooftop restaurant. The bread, butter, jam, pastries and drinks 10/10. My friends enjoyed their dishes. My huevos rancheros weren’t what I was expecting so I wouldn’t be ordering them again. The place is $16 per dish which is considered expensive for Mexico City.. the coffee was ok. I asked for my eggs medium but they had the white part undercooked. Service was 20/10, everyone very nice and the view was nice.

BALTA

Dining at BALTA was truly unforgettable. I arrived feeling slightly intimidated, as the restaurant has the polish and confidence of a Michelin-level space, but the moment I sat down, everything felt calm, welcoming, and comfortable.

The service was outstanding, especially from Rodolfo, who made the evening exceptional. He was warm, attentive, and incredibly professional, guiding us through the experience with ease. We were also helped by another server later on, and both were excellent.

The food was phenomenal. The bread alone was something I wished I could take with me, paired with a memorable house-made butter. I almost ordered chicken, but quickly realized that being in Mexico was the perfect opportunity to fully embrace the local cuisine. The tacos were absolutely delicious—beautifully prepared and full of flavour.

Every detail, from the service to the pacing to the food, felt thoughtful and intentional. What could have felt formal instead felt relaxed, generous, and deeply enjoyable.

Highly recommended. I would return without hesitation.

Had the best dinner here! The staff was so kind and welcoming, and the experience was top notch. The pavlova was the best dessert I’ve ever had in my life, i wish I could have one everyday.

Hands down the best pastries I’ve ever eaten at a hotel breakfast.

The service, food, juice, coffee and tea options are all exceptional.

Highly recommend the chocolate croissant, pain au chocolat, and the raspberry croissant!

I stopped in to Balta for a late dinner upon my arrival to Mexico City. The space was beautiful and the service was high end. I felt very well taken care of by the kind staff. The cocktail I had was great, and I would have happily paid for the complimentary beet bread. I had the duck mole entree and it was great! I plan to return at least once before the end of my trip.

Obsessed with this place for breakfast or brunch. We did get this included for free by using the AmEx card to book our stay at the Sofitel. The food is so delicious and beautiful, buffet and menu ordering. The service is perfection – kind, attentive, helpful, everyone speaks so many languages. On our last day, the wonderful *Sara* at the crepe/quesadilla station packed us up amazing to go boxes for our flight. Francisco, Enrique, Dany, and a fabulous woman waitress who I didn’t get her name just were the best. I just love this place so much! The chocolate crepes, the yogurt and toppings, OMG the insane pastries, OMG the chilaquiles with green sauce, the juices and the ginger peach tea… I could go on and on. They have great gluten free options too. Chairs are comfortable. Sometimes a little noisy, and I wish the music wasn’t all American! Definitely recommend going for sure though.
