I am always looking for good
tamales and was not disappointed.

It was not busy on a Tuesday
afternoon and I ordered a
half pint of rice and six tamales
to go.

I received my order in about
ten minutes with no problems.

The tamales were a little small, but had good taste, and
the masa was not too thick.

The rice was moist and had
a nice taste to it.

The menu offers masa and
corn husks to make your own
tamales.

You will also find fresh salsa, frozen tamales, seasonal items like asparagus and pepper jack
tamales, tacos, and enchiladas.

Located in the West Valley
Commons on W Nob Hill
Blvd in Yakima.

A nice place to stop for good food for with friendly service,
and a number of options for
tamales.

Tamales traste great, definitely worth a try. They are small, but value is comparable to Seattle tamales (higher than most out-of-state visitors would expect to pay). A single tamal in Seattle can be almost $6 and about 2x larger.
Side note, the marker used to write the “C” for chicken on the plastic leaked through and made it to the tamales.

I’m genuinely confused by the amount of high reviews here.
I assume it has something to do with the fact that they proudly display their receipt of a James Beard award and people don’t want to disagree with that and look culinarily incompetent.
Let me tell you, I wish I tried these tamales in 2018 when they received that award because there is simply NO WAY the tamales I had here were the same tamales from then.
Firstly, the masa was gritty and had NO FLAVOR.
We paid $2.69/tamale and they were literally smaller than my plastic fork.
An absolute robbery.
I would not feel morally ok about charging someone so much for such a small tamale.
(Yes, I know they are laborious to make as I have grown up making them as well).
I’m assuming once they received the award, they knew people would just come to try it so they gave up on giving anything of quality or quantity.
I have a child who quite literally only ever wants to eat tamales and she wouldn’t even eat hers.
Super bummed out by this experience and heed caution to others to note that they receive their award 7 years ago and what they serve today is not what one would expect.

As delicious as the original location. They always have 3 kinds of filling to choose from: chicken, pork, and a seasonal vegetable.

Simple real food. The beans and rice were good, oh, and the tamales too! I ordered a combo plate and split the tamales between one pork and one chicken. I personally liked the chicken better, but both were great. Reasonable price for a combo plate. Would absolutely return when I want mexican tamales.

Always looking forward for their seasonal asparagus + cheese tamales. Pork is my stable choice. Highly recommend!

I bought the frozen pork and chicken tamales to have from Christmas Eve. They turned out amazing! We will definitely go back. Service was friendly and fair prices.

The cashier was acting weird but worst of all is the food, these are the skimpiest tamales I have ever seen, they are flimsy and don’t even hold up and not to mention all the water downed salsa… has no flavor, nothing has flavor. Horrible experience and super expensive, paid $45 for a couple skimpy tamales and salsa with beans to have no flavor whatsoever. DO NOT RECOMMEND whatsoever. Eat here is you love wasting your money.

Extremely expensive for mid tamales, 33$ for a dozen and no salsa included for a tiny 1 oz container of salsa 4$. I’ve never been somewhere that sells salsa separate from the tamales it seems like they are extremely money hungry.

Amazing tamales! It doesn’t matter what flavor you get…they are all delicious. The asparagus tamales are award winning and they deserve it. It’s a small place that packs a big punch. Make sure to get their beans and rice because they, too, are delicious with the tamales. Stop by and have a meal….it’s totally worth it!!!
