We booked our table however saw other walk in and all of us were served fast and efficiently.
We had a range of dishes, we had many dishes which were delicious, our favours were:- Nue Foy – amazing sticky rice with shredded beef, Maasam curry – creamy and generous with ingredients, Beef Rendang – spicy and rich in flavour. Each dish was beautifully presented and delicious.
There is a pay and display car park just a couple of minute walk away from this restaurant, depending on what time of day you visit it could be free.
We would highly recommend this very cute little restaurant.
Last evening (09/09), my wife and I, visited Rice Fusion for the first time – loved it!
The food was excellent, offering options from various regions, Korean, Indonesian, Malaysian, Japanese and Thai, we believe Vietnamese will be added in a couple of months.
As it was our first time we asked for recommendations, Gandhi was brilliant, being able to advise on region, type, spice level etc.
Although we were advised 6 dishes would be enough for two people, I also wanted a curry, so went for 7.
I can confirm that for most, 6 would be plenty.
The presentation of the food was to the normal high standard of Rice Thai, the surroundings are really pleasing and staff great.
We felt the pricing was fair considering the quality of the food.
Will definitely be returning as it’s nice to mix the food up a bit, in fact booked to go with friends next month.
Well done Rice Thai!
What can I say! Rice Street Fusion has landed on St Cuthberts and it’s absolutely fantastic. The brainwave of Rice Thai’s owner, Nurul — he’s expanded into the premises next door and is now serving up Thai Street Fusion. And wow… what a taste explosion!
We shared all of this between four of us (not a single complaint):
• Grilled Chicken Taliwang
• Tom Yum Soup
• Iga Bakar Beef Ribs
• Som Tam
• Grilled Sea Bass
• Nasi Goreng
• Udon Drunken Noodles
• Penang Curry
• Korean Chicken
To top it off, they even brought out Mango & Sticky Rice to celebrate my wife’s birthday.
If you love Thai food, this is one you NEED to book. Highly recommend. Bedford is very lucky !
The food was average in my view.
Room for improvement in the roti canai dish, as it wasn’t authentic, the roti was not what you get in Malayasia.
Overall flavours were good, but needed more taste in most dishes, when I compare it to what I have eaten elsewhere. Appreciate the resturant is catering to the mass but it does need improvement in the flavouring.
We decided to order 3 dishes but ordered another one afterwards which was needed as the plates are small. We were told this when we ordered but said we’d just see how it went.
Prawn crackers were bought out for us which were lovely & served with sweet chilli sauce. We ordered the Nue Foy which was crispy shredded beef in sweet and salty sauce with sticky rice, chicken satay skewers (portion of 3) and drunken udon noodles. Although the noodles said they were spicy we asked for little chilli. Unfortunately these turned out to be so spicy it’s the main reason I have to mark the food as 4 star because they were unbearable for me! My partner did manage to finish them but said his mouth was on fire afterwards! I believe a table next to us had the same issue & sent theirs back as they were still too spicy.
The rest of the food was enjoyable, although the beef was a little too crispy and shredded, it completely changed the taste of the meat and it was like eating crisps!
We also ordered the Roti Cannai which was nicely flaky and & both dips were delicious, we were both glad that we ordered the extra dish.
The main issue we found was that the restaurant was so small and too many tables, it’s so cramped it really did affect the overall experience for us unfortunately.
Cannot complain at all about the price, we found our total bill was very reasonable and we would revisit to try other dishes just perhaps at a quieter time – not Saturday evening.
Food portions were very small and the plates where the mains came in were tiny. Having had starters and mains, me and my friend were still left hungry.
