There is no sign. No kitchen. No menu. Just six seats, seventeen courses, and one unforgettable evening behind the door marked 202.

This is not a sushi dinner. It is a hidden experience disguised as one. You walk down a hotel hallway and enter what feels like a secret clubhouse for those who know how to eat well and live better.

Chef Chris is an artist disguised as a chef. Every piece he served was deliberate and elegant. From A5 wagyu crowned with caviar to perfectly balanced hand rolls, each course was a nod to precision, restraint, and joy. The Omakase is not rushed nor rigid. Want an encore of your favorite bite? They will oblige. Want to linger afterward and spin some vinyl from the corner record shelf? That is encouraged.

McKenna, our bartender and drink guide, struck the perfect balance of warmth and knowledge. She offered us tastings to help us discover the right sake and introduced us to Japanese whiskeys that made us rethink our preferences.

It is intimate without being stuffy. Elevated without taking itself too seriously. This is Omakase for people who enjoy storytelling, craft, and the kind of memories that start with “Remember that sushi dinner in the hotel room?”

Pro tip: bring someone who appreciates the details. The rest will take care of itself.

It was such an intimate and unique experience. Crit, the Chef was so interesting and gentle. An artist who took pride in his craft. The drinks were delicious and The host, i forgot his name, was engaging and really made it a special experience. It ruined regular sushi for me forever!

Came here for my birthday and was one of my favorite dinners ever! The experience is so intimate and fun, the chef and staff are so personable and easy to have fun with! They made the experience 1000x better.

As for the food, every piece we were served was beyond amazing. It’s been one week and I’m still craving every course of that meal.

We will definitely be back!

Zero stars barely 1 even if google shows 2 stars

I rarely write negative reviews, but this one felt necessary.

I’m well traveled, live in downtown Chicago, and make a point to try a new restaurant almost every weekend — especially sushi. Chicago has an incredible sushi scene, which is exactly why this experience at Sushi Suite 202 was so disappointing.

From the moment we arrived, the service felt standoffish and unnecessarily cold. There was an air of attitude that made the entire experience uncomfortable rather than special. When you’re paying premium prices for an “exclusive” omakase-style experience, hospitality should be part of what you’re investing in — and it simply wasn’t there.

The space itself? It’s essentially a hotel room setup. The sushi was okay, but nowhere near memorable enough to justify the hype or the price point. Chicago has far too many excellent sushi spots to spend your evening here.

If you’re curious about Sushi Suite 202, honestly, you’re better off staying at the The Hotel at Lincoln Park, ordering sushi takeout, and making yourself a martini. You’ll save money and likely have a more enjoyable experience.

This place is overhyped. It’s just a hotel room with decent sushi and a disappointing attitude.

Do not book it. Absolutely Not worth over $500 for 2 ppl.

Great creative possibly Asian fusion omakase experience with lots of fish varieties flown from Japan with nice sake pairing.

What an awesome fun experience. Chef Mike was very entertaining knowledgeable, and willing to take any and all questions while preparing some of the best sushi I have had in my life. My wife also said it was some of the best sushi she has had in her life as well. It was well worth the price of admission and I have no doubt I would do it again in the future. It only holds 6 people so prepare to get to know your dining mates but after the meal you can sit in the small connected lounge to continue enjoying drinks.

One of my favorite anniversary places to go to! My boyfriend and I celebrated our 1 year together here and it was such an amazing experience!!

Definitely recommend getting the cocktail pairing with your experience. The ambiance of this place is very intimate and exclusive. Our chef connected with everyone on some kind of personal level, and really made the whole experience inclusive with everyone there, which was only 2 other couples.

I’m from out of town and decided to pick this restaurant for my birthday as I wanted to do a highly rated omakase experience with close friends who also traveled. I was especially excited because of the very intimate atmosphere that was described, since there are only 6 seats available in a hotel room, kind of like speakeasy style. The food was amazing and the chef was also great and really fun to talk to. However, I was honestly very disappointed with the service. I have done omakase another time before and learned that if you show up late, you will start late and miss out on some of the courses. So I made sure that we showed up 15 minutes early as requested. Despite that, we waited for a total of 45 minutes, and started our experience 30 minutes after our scheduled start. I find it hypocritical that I will be charged a late fee or even cancelled yet still charged if I show up late, but there was absolutely no service or even apologies for starting so late and having to wait almost an hour at the bar while another group was obviously being taken priority of. Then, there is a small lounge section directly behind the omakase bar for the leaving group to finish drinks at, etc. I think this is a fine concept. Except for that this group was EXTREMELY loud and disruptive, to the point where we could not hear what our sushi chef was saying to us. I was disappointed with this because that is part of the omakase experience that I really enjoy; learning about the fish and talking with the chef. But it was to the point where our group could only converse with the people directly next to who you were sat to. Now, I am not angry or upset at the prior group. However I am upset that the team at Sushi Suite did not recognize how this was interrupting our paid experience and politely trying to fix the situation so we could have had a similar experience to them, because I assure you my group was not disruptive to either our prior or the next group when it was our turn in the lounge. It just felt like they did not care about our experience. We even bought our sushi chef a round of drinks, and I feel like it just showed our emphasis on being good polite guests but not getting nearly the same treatment back. Furthermore, tips are automatically included in the bill. This is fine and understandable for this type of restaurant and experience, however this is not advertised anywhere when I made a reservation. And for once, I would’ve actually probably tipped less than I was forced to because of my disappointing experience with the service, which I would have reflected on my tip. So truthfully, I don’t know if I would go again. Obviously I’m sure this experience does not happen often, but if there were ever any kind of disturbance in your experience, I would not expect the service to be reflected to change that as I feel like other fine dining experiences would.

Perhaps being overly critical but when prepay is required for an expensive meal, it should live up to the expectation. While the experience was great from intimate speakeasy vibe to cocktails and presentation of nigiri, fish-to-rice ratio were inconsistent, which is glaringly obvious when they served back to back immediately. Otherwise, it is a great spot for a date night especially if cocktails are appreciated.

What a magical experience! It was so private it felt like being apart of a secret club. You knock one the door which looks like a hotel room to enter. There is a cocktail bar, lounge area and the sushi bar. All the pieces were fantastic and decadent! We drank sake as we ate our Omakase pieces. The chefs gave us information on each piece, it was a lot of fun watching them make it! I would love to come back! It was a special moment I will never forget!
