Ordered lunch from here on DoorDash at work. General gso chicken and chicken wings well done. The gso wasn’t spicy enough for my preference but was still good. Would order again but not a must have lock in.

This might be the best Chinese restaurant I’ve tried around Boston! The food came in fast but was also freshly cooked. The pork tongue and the whole fish were authentic. This is Shanghai Cuisine and they are indeed good at non-spicy dishes.

It’s also easy to find free 1-hour parking nearby. The place doesn’t look fancy at all, but definitely don’t overlook it!

Amazing experience. Highly recommended. All the dishes we ordered were above average, very delicious. Very good staff. We got the pork soup dumplings which had very tasty soup broth in it, the noodles with brown beans and pork sauce (both the sauce and the noodles where done perfectly), the crispy steak ( unique item here, very juice and tender but also crispy and well seasoned with the perfect sauce to complement), and mapo tofu with white rice. The mapo was very good and shows the skill level of the chef, very satisfying.

The food were great and service was good. The crab rangoons have decent amount of fillings. The pan fried buns took a longer time to come out than expected but was worth the wait. The pan fried noodles with chicken tasted good. The shrimps with vegetables are good, suited my taste. The prices are also decent for the amount of food you’ll get.

As someone grew up in Shanghai, I can confidently say that Shanghai Cuisine in Waltham captures the essence of authentic Shanghainese flavors.

Recommend Shanghai style poached chicken. It was juicy, tender, and served cold with the ginger scallion sauce. I also tried the shredded yellow eel with boiled oil which is one of my favorite Shanghai dishes. The shredded eel was silky and coated in a scallion oil sauce with just a touch of sweetness. It’s balanced and flavorful. The place brought me straight back to the tastes of home.

After so many years, today is unexpectedly my first time here. The taste of this place is great, the portions are generous, and the service is top-notch. The dry-fried green beans, pork elbow, and loofah are all good choices. However, the sweet and sour mandarin fish is too sweet for my taste. For parking, you can try Pine St or Cresent St, but don’t count on finding a spot on Moody St.

Super authentic Shanghai food Friendly and responsive servers. We ordered a lot (more than we could eat) and got a lot of take-out (as long as a free soup dumping). Will definitely come back!

My spouse was craving some stir fried shrimp that he had when he was last in Shanghai and found this restaurant serving it.
We ordered the Shanghai Pork Bun 上海生煎包. This one had a flavorful feeling and soft fluffy outside with the crispy bottom. This style doesn’t have much soup inside.
Next was the scallion oil noodle 葱油拌面. This one was a simple dish of noodles, scallion oil and I think dried/fried scallions. Simple but delicious! I would definitely have this one again.
Then came the whole reason we were here: Stir-fried Shrimp 油爆虾, misspelled on the menu as Stire-Fried shrimp. These shrimp are served in a savory, slightly sweet thin sauce with full head, shell, legs, tail. We were so excited to dig in that the photo above is a few bites in. This one was also really good, although admittedly a hard sell for many Americans. I would get it again though.
Last dish we had was the Shanghai Style Soup Dumplings with Pork 上海小笼包. I have found there are two types of soup dumplings: some which are more plain and those with a strong ginger taste. These ones are the more plain taste. The skin was nice and thin, as soup dumplings should be. They were overflowing with soup! I personally prefer the stronger ginger flavor soup dumplings, but I think these were good for a plainer taste style.
This restaurant gives you the full Chinese experience with a very enthusiastic owner. He chats with the restaurant guests and will recommend dishes, ask if the food is good, etc. Piping hot floral tea was brought out within a minute of sitting down.
I think we’ll be back.

This is totally a hidden gem! Doesn’t look like much from the outside, and it is very basic on the inside. It was clean, including the bathroom. The staff were friendly and helpful. They have a great lunch menu ($11.95) that comes with an amazing hot and sour soup. Complex flavors in a very dark broth. Traditional ingredients like golden needles, black mushrooms or fungus, tofu, and finished with sesame oil. Had a nice amount of heat to it. This is one of the best I’ve had. You get a choice of crab rangoons or dumplings. I went twice this week and had the dumplings both times. You get 3 good-sized dumplings with pork and a little juice/soup inside. These were amazing. My first day, my entrée was orange crispy chicken. This was extra crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. It had a delicious sauce with some orange rinds on the chicken. This truly was amazing. It also came with white rice and broccoli. The portions were big! The food was delicious!
The second day, I also got the lunch special. Another great cup of soup, I stuck with dumplings and got the Kung Pao Chicken! The chicken was tender, and the veggies were crispy. They did a great job with this dish. Highly recommend. Food came with a complimentary pot of tea and ice water. All of the lunch specials are. 11.95. It is truly a great value! There is plenty of parking across the street. A buck an hour. It’s about a minute walk. Highly recommend! Food was delicious!
