This is a grade A dive bar. It’s easy to miss. I understand the appeal of a basement bar but this place was dark and gritty. They had live music that sounded alright but was super loud. There was a stream of water coming from the ceiling creating a puddle at the entrance. Had to pay a cover which I thought was kinda crazy for this establishment. The vibe was dope and the service was okay. Definitely doesn’t seem like a bar for younger crowds. Had one drink and left. Definitely wouldn’t spend all night here but one or 2 drinks wouldn’t hurt.

I was very excited to go back here as a Penn state alum; however, my recent experience was less than ideal.
Spent $5 on a cover to wait at the bar for 20 minutes to not be served as there was no sense of urgency from the bartenders, at all. Upon arriving, the man checking ids at the door YELLED at us for leaving the door open which had been open the whole night. The floor was sticky and toilet was flooded.
I completely understand why there wasn’t a line at this establishment, and after being a big supporter of the brewery, I now believe the parking lot idea would a better use of this space based on the service last experienced.

Great industry bar, very friendly staff unless you break the rules. You will be thrown out without hesitation (yes I’ve been kicked out a few times, it was always my fault). I will always come back, special shout out to Sam for being a great up and coming bar tender in the area.

Super creative drunk selection, id argue they have the most custom drinks out of any bar. Karaoke on Sundays can be really fun. If you’re looking to spend money on top shelf just ask they have some super expensive alcohol they don’t display.

Absolutely, enjoyed this place. I’ve been back and forth to state college for many years since I was in college. My siblings go here now and my mom and I took a trip down here. There is never a bar we all agree on down here but we went to this one and we all loved it. Rocky is a cool person!

The Brew used to be cool. Came in last night to celebrate my birthday with my friends, hoping to get a couple rounds of their iconic shots and play some darts. Paid cover, came in to a relatively busy bar, ordered one of the shots… but the bartender refused to make them, and we were told that they “don’t do specialties on the weekend anymore.” Talk about lame. I get not posting the huge list of shots while its busy, or not honoring low-cost specials, but when customers come in excited to order rounds of shots, you’d think they would just charge us a little extra for them. If you want to drink anything other than midlife crisis beer or straight liquor shots, you will most likely have more fun somewhere else. The vibes are cool, but vibes aren’t enough to remedy lame bartenders.

Total and complete dive bar. Filthy. Disgusting. Uneven floors. Gross bathrooms. I give it a 5/5 for dive bars, if they had their own scale. I was there on a football weekend, so there’s your context – it was wall to wall people. I enjoyed it for what it is, enjoyed some live music, had a couple drinks, and moved on. If I had friends that wanted to pop in for a quick drink, sure, I’d go. If I had friends that wanted to spend a great deal of time there, I’d ask them if they were serious. All that said, I’d go back. Take that for what you will.

Doesn’t serve food so can’t rate that. Staff is awesome! They are friendly and make the best shots. Great selection. Older place but clean. Have pool and live music sometimes.

My friends and I got kicked out because one person in our group used the male bathroom instead of the female bathroom because the female bathroom was FLOODED and out of order. Tried explaining the situation to the manager and he didn’t listen—kicked out our whole group anyways. Yelled in extremely unprofessional way. I work in food/bar service. This is not how it’s done. Their bad. Disappointing. Yikes.

The last regulars’ bar in town. This place is a shot and beer dive, in the best and truest sense. The service industry regulars and small staff are a tight knit family, but will welcome most any visitor to their home. Just bring the right expectations, a little patience, and an open attitude. It might get muggy in the summer and drafty in the winter. The floor will get a bit sticky as the night goes on. You can also expect great conversation, fun shooters, surprises on tap, and some quality whiskey on the top shelf at fair prices.
