I ordered the lamb chops with rice and gravy, which come with two sides. I chose the mac and cheese and green beans. The wait time was reasonable, and the food arrived hot and fresh, clearly made to order.
The lamb chops were cooked to perfection—tender, juicy, and full of flavor. They were braised in a sweet, savory sauce that elevated the dish and added a unique depth without overpowering the natural taste of the lamb. The rice and gravy complemented the lamb well, blending smoothly and enhancing every bite.
The mac and cheese was baked just right, creamy on the inside with the perfect balance of cheese, while the green beans were cooked al dente and seasoned to perfection, adding a nice contrast to the richness of the meal.
Last but not least, the cheesecake was unlike anything I’ve ever had. It was rich, smooth, and incredibly satisfying, with the pecans adding the perfect touch of texture and flavor. They complemented the sweetness beautifully and took the dessert to another level, making it the perfect ending to an already outstanding meal.
Overall, this was a well-executed, flavorful dish that felt thoughtfully prepared. From the quality of the ingredients to the balance of flavors, everything came together beautifully. I would definitely order this again.

The food was good. The corn nuggets were one of a kind – delicious! Please note there is a wait time of at least 35 minutes when you order inside. The pork chop was great! My husband said the pound cake was “pretty good” This was a first-time visit. I think I may go back on a day when they are only selling soul food (Monday is Philly Cheesesteak day).

The presentation was fabulous, the inside was very nice and everything on the menu I will try and know that “Taste and See” is I’ll be rated the best soul food in Columbia.

This weekend was full of FIRSTS — new food, new restaurants, and new experiences! ✨
My first stop was Taste and See on North Main, and let me tell you… the customer service was next level.
I ordered a wing basket, and the sign said the wait would be about 35 minutes. I waited a little longer, and one of the young ladies noticed I had been waiting quite a while. She asked what I ordered, went to the back to check, and discovered my order wasn’t there at all.
So now I’m annoyed because I’ve been waiting all this time with no food. But the way they handled it? A1. They apologized, offered me dessert, and when I said no thank you and asked for a refund, the young lady said, “Well, can I offer you something else?” She listed what was ready right then: baked turkey wings, fried pork chops, and a few other dishes.
I chose the baked turkey wings with rice & gravy, cabbage, and potato salad— and baby, that food was DELICIOUS! ️ Chef’s Kiss!!! Not only did she give me the meal, she didn’t charge me at all AND refunded my original order.
Top-tier customer service + amazing food = I WILL be back. Hats off to the ladies at Taste and See — y’all made my first visit one to remember!

Excellent service, food was amazing I mean AMAZING, very friendly staff, do sleep on them if you in the area do yourself a favor and look them up you won’t regret it!! I don’t know how but almost forgot the desserts my goodness they are just as amazing as the food!!

I listened to Tik Tok and tried a new soul food spot. Needless to say, total disappointment but can improve…no harm to the business, just an honest review.
1. Oxtail- Mid as the kids say
Underseasoned, needed to cook a little longer, Luke warm= not fresh
2. Lamb chops – mid
Tougher than they should’ve been and had an asian sauce tasted straight out the can.
3. Fried turkey wing (hot honey lemon pepper)
Fried and seasoned well, the sauce was okay.
4. Mac & cheese
Well seasoned, hot, and fresh
5. Collards- mid
Under- cooked and lacked flavor
6. Yams – bad
Overly sweet, tasted canned
7. Rice & gravy – bad
Slightly undercooked, underseasoned, and Luke warm.

I was looking for a place to eat because I am new to the area. I came across “TASTE AND SEE “ that sounds like a challenge so I called first and asked if they cooked their vegetables and greens with pork and they said no. That was enough for me to at least “TASTE AND SEE”. I was pleasantly surprised with the home feeling they provided and the wait is roughly 20-30 minutes because they cook everything fresh. That’s worth the wait. I ordered the lamb chops, it comes with rice and good goodness gravy that’s what I call it and two additional side. I chose Uncle Jr. collard greens and Mattie’s Mac and cheese. I ate everything and it was delicious. I also ordered the peach cobbler and strawberry cheesecake wow. Simply amazing go taste and you will see. I will be back for sure. Great job y’all.
