The 4 stars review was misleading. I ordered the honey chicken lunch special and received greasy and tasteless battered chicken. There was no sauce on the chicken, just oil. I am sick to my stomach after eating. The crab rangoon was fried in the same style and only tasted of day-old frying oil. I am beyond disappointed by this experience.

We have eaten at just about every Chinese restaurant in the metro during the last 20+ years. By far, our go-to favorite is Taste of China in downtown Council Bluffs. The restaurant is small and spartan, so we’ve usually ordered out. The prices are generally competitive. Now, we hasten to add that the staff is not particularly friendly or talkative (a fairly insignificant flaw). But the food is the standout!!! We’d love to say we’ve tasted most everything on their menu, but we are stuck on a couple dozen items we keep eating over and over. WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM. We don’t think you’ll go wrong with Taste of China!!!

It’s a very quiet place and doesn’t seem too busy. The food was so delicious and very authentic. It was also made so quickly and was brought out on plastic and paper plates/bowls which is how you know you found a hidden gem!!

Never have I ever had such a rude experience on the phone. I ordered two crab rangoon i hope they make it and that it goes to waste because i will not be coming to pick it up. The phone is always first impression, and to be so rude and dry and nonchalant and when I tell you to have a good night you put the phone down? I hope you run out of business.

I don’t know what that meat is in the Beef fried rice, my fried dumplings were horribly disgusting. Crab rangoon, was crispy but runny inside. Never get the sweet and sour sauce. Wow. $26.31. That meat was rubber and an awful after taste. I should bag it up and take it back. With the price of food now days. 1 person. I should have had dinner for 2 nights. But it’s cold outside. Never ever again

I’ve been eating here for 30!!!!! Years!!!! It’s always been a family favorite!!! They have THE BEST crab rangoons but everything I ordered today was full of oil!!!! So much oil it literally seperated from the brown sauce on my plate!!
I ordered vegetable stir fry!!
I couldn’t soak it all up with a paper towel
My husband ordered honey chicken and the bottom of his container was swimming in oil too
It was so bad I had to throw away my 12$$ meal.
Now I feel awful and sick
They don’t have the lady at the front anymore. Everyone’s complaining about the guy at the counter.. well it’s all true
A place that used to be wonderful 100% of the time is now hit and miss.
Sometimes it’s great and sometimes it’s really not which sucks!! But I’ve never in my life great so much oil served to me before
I’m taking a long break away from TOC. If I want to pay $$ for Chinese I’ll go to the one in Manawa. They’re the best especially their light menu!!

If I could give a 3rd of a star I would. The food was dry and disgusting, and I found two hairs in my ribs. The staff was completely rude to us as well. I don’t know why any one would come here . It’s trash don’t waste your time and energy

I’ve been going regularly here for about 6months and it’s never a disappointment
They have very reasonable prices and one meal can easily be shared from my experience, with the very generous servings

Order food last night and ask for beef and broccoli and they gave me something else that wasn’t beef it seems like it was pork or something else bearly had any meat and I order general tso chicken that tasted like seafood tasted nasty and my stomach was upset all night throwing up my youngest daughter is the same sick and we couldn’t even eat it we had put it in different plates with rice for me and her but didn’t finish it but when I try to call it was too late when I got home
