Good FRESH food. Best Pozole by far.
Not too pricey either. There is limited seating, but anything you order is going to be fresh and tasty.

Eat the World NYC review:
An almost magical area containing one of the densest concentrations of Oaxacans on the east coast is right in New Brunswick, NJ. A good place to begin your explorations is at one of the longest running, La Placita Mexicana, which has evolved in its ten or so years of existence from a tiny kitchen inside a grocery to a slightly less tiny kitchen inside a grocery with a massive following. Because growth really is not an option at this original location, they have opened up two formal restaurants nearby, but the casual nature of the grocery is still preferred.

The big crispy yet stretchy tortilla used for tlayudas ($10-12) is not ever made to order, as these are actually imported from Oaxaca. A layer of asiento (unrefined pork lard) and black beans creates the canvas for lettuce, the meat of your choice, stringy white Oaxacan cheese and avocado. Before the tlayuda is folded over, it is large and round, about the size of a medium pizza. Sometimes it is served without folding like at Costa Chica across the street, but at casual places and on the street the fold is done to make the dish easier to eat by hand.

This place was just great! I ordered a torta de chorizo and it was the best Torta I have ever had. Way better then Pizzas citys tortas. (No shame on them) My family loved this place. It was pretty clean and didnt smell. On one side is the Restaurant and the other is like a small super market. Pretty cool if I say so my self. I hope you love this place like I did!

The food is good, but some products they sell are damaged and the boy who attends does not have a good attitude

This restaurant has been the best place that I have gotten food to take out. However today was not it, I got a tlayudas asada, and unos tacos de chorizo. Las tlayudas were soggy and they always make it crunchy. In that case today the tlayudas had less cheese, less cabbage and less meat. Los tacos de chorizo, the tortilla was really thick, with a lot of chorizo plus it didn’t have no flavor at all, was disappointed.

Food was great but the lady in charge taking orders doesn’t know how to give a good customer service even though I spoke to her in Spanish. Next time I’ll place my order online

Love their tacos! Not a fancy place more of a take out but they have a lot of Mexican snacks that are hard to get where I’m from, so a trip there is always great

This place is a hidden gem inside a mini govern store. They make their tortillas fresh and makes all the difference. I tried the tacos and sopes. Also best horchata I’ve had in NJ so far.
