If you have not been to Leon’s yet, you definitely need to go! He has a great spot. I was very impressed. The food was amazing and very flavorful. There is a nice view of Lake Ella, and there’s tables outside to enjoy your meal there too. There was a line, but it seemed to go quickly. We had the special of the day, shrimp and grits with a corn cream sauce. The shrimp is spicy but added to the grits nicely. We added the focacia toast, She Crab soup, and the grilled cheese with tomato bisque. Everything was hot and fresh! We are planning to make this a regular on our list. Keep it up, Leon!

My boyfriend & I had the pleasure of visiting Leon’s on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, and we were blown away by how fabulous the food was. The girls who were taking the orders were so sweet & helped us pick out some things to try. We ordered the lamb pasta, the she crab soup, and the shrimp & grits sandwich, and each one was absolutely delicious! I can confirm that Leon’s has the best food in Town. The restaurant was humble & relaxed, so the star of the show was definitely the food. The prices were extremely reasonable & honestly refreshing. We seriously look forward to coming back and trying everything on the menu! If you are debating what to do on a Sunday- look no further because Leon’s on Lake Ella really has it going on.

Sooooo delicious! It’s hard to find a restaurant where EVERYTHING that is ordered is so good that you can’t easily pick which dish was the best. Ultimately, I think the Shrimp and Grit Sandwich was my favorite thing at the table, I will have to get that again ASAP. This was our first time, but Leon’s will definitely become a regular stop for us, and a place we bring friends and family from out of town! 🙂

We’ve enjoyed two visits to Leon’s this past month. On the first occasion, three of us enjoyed eating outside. Lovely to sit under the trees, overlooking Lake Ella. The she-crab soup and gumbo were especially tasty compared to the simpler salad and green goddess BLT. Only wish the dessert had not been sold out. On our next visit, two of us enjoyed the blackened shrimp and Gouda grits sandwich, fried tomato sandwich, soup (love that she-crab! Delicious.) and crème brûlée. Good flavor, all! For now, Leon’s is open for lunch 4 days a week. Limited indoor seating but plenty of outdoor seating. Highly recommend for a casual and tasty lunch!

I recently visited Leon’s at 1611 N Monroe St, in Tallahassee, FL. After finding a parking spot, I got in line to order my lunch. Of course, I got behind someone unprepared to find out. The order taker was very helpful and I order the mojo wings, super delicious! I ate outside and enjoyed the people watching.

Really beautiful view of Lake Ella! Lovely outdoor and indoor seating. Casual lunch only spot. We had a very nice Cuban with nicely caramelized maduros. Also a house specialty grits and shrimp sandwich. It was an interesting new food. The gumbo was really good. I love gumbo and this had a nice rich flavor and a hint of sherry. I’ll probably need to come back just for that. With a book. Under the oaks at Lake Ella…

Sitting at the window table looking out at Lake Ella was the perfect spot for a Friday lunch with the wife. Leon’s atmosphere is perfect for a lunch date or for a relaxing work lunch with co-workers. The service was great. Everyone was nice, friendly, and knowledgeable about the food. We went a little nuts ordering expecting to take some home to the kids. My wife got the shrimp and grits sandwich. I got the Cuban sandwich, and we got pork belly bao buns to share. The sides were fries, fried green tomatoes, and maduros. The shrimp and grits sandwich was great. It was like a shrimp po boy on taste steroids. Definitely will repeat order it. Now full disclosure, I’m from the Tampa area and I prefer classic Tampa Cuban sandwiches. Leon’s Cuban sandwich did not hit that mark for me, but it was delicious in its own way. My wife and I enjoyed its taste and decided it was the chimichurri aioli that gave it its distinct flavor. The pork belly was perfect but we did think the bao bun was a little too greasy. Fries were good. Fried green tomatoes were great, the same reason I didn’t give the Cuban a perfect score is the same reason I am giving the maduros a perfect five stars. They reminded me of the quality maduros I would get at mom and pop Cuban restaurants in Tampa. Delicious. Overall Leon’s needs to be visited and then revisited. We want to try new menu items but it will be hard to not order the shrimp and grits sandwich again. Can’t wait for it to be a bit cooler so we can sit outside comfortably. We will be back.

All the hype was correct – this place is awesome! I wish I would’ve started with the bread pudding so I could’ve finished it. It was heavenly.

Korean BBQ wings were great and flavorful and the Cuban was really good too. Staff were all super friendly.

My husband and I ate at Leon’s today for the first time. Lake Ella is such a magical/beautiful place, but it lacked of restaurants like Leon’s. It’s wonderful to be able to seat outside, enjoying a beautiful sunny day, plus the lake in front of you.

Food: we ordered wings, fried tomatoes sandwich (ciabatta) and bao buns. All delicious. Prices were okay too.

Quick note: We were a bit lost when we arrived, since we saw everyone eating outside but had no idea if we could sit or how the restaurant worked. I think a sign should hang outside indicating that orders are placed inside. You’re actually free to seat wherever after you’ve place your order.

I would recommend that after an order is placed, a number or sign to be given to each customer to put on top of the table, that way the waiters don’t have to shout your name (wondering where you’re seating) when the food is ready.

Also, i feel like the business hours are a bit limited, but almost every restaurant in Tallahassee is like that, :(.

That being said, I loved the food, I loved that the restaurant is at Lake Ella. I wish this would expand and more restaurants open around the lake . I would recommend this place.
