Fantastic burritos! I’ve had takeout a few times here and the food is very consistent. Both times that I’ve picked up the restaurant has been full, so that’s usually a good sign. I look forward to dining in and trying a drink next time.

My wife and I have been coming to El Tapatio since they opened here in Warwick a few years ago. We love their food, their menu and their service. We lived out West for a time and are familiar with Mexican food. El Tapitio is authentic Mexican food from the presentation to every dish offered, there is no other Mexican restaurant that compares with what they have going at El Tapatio’s.
Two of my favorite dishes are Chili Verde and Enchiladas Tapatio, they are both so good that I have a hard time thinking of anything else. Their Margaritas are great and they always start you out with warm chips and salsa. The servers are friendly and can answer any questions about their menu. El Tapatio is our place to go for the best Mexican food.

Great place for authentic Mexican food, hardly a wait, food arrives fast and hot, drinks are delicious, staff is friendly. Prices are reasonable, very small Bar area. Limited bottled alcohol choices but there is something for everyone. definitely cater more to the margaritas, but isn’t that why we go to Mexican restaurants? It’s all about the margaritas! Looking into the kitchen area, everything looked pretty clean. Restrooms were clean and stocked.

I’m from Texas. Was flying home and had some time to stop here since I was in the mood for some good Mexican food. The reviews looked promising. But the food was a disappointment.
The salsa was ok. A little too chunky for me. Chips were warm and fresh. I ordered chicken enchiladas. They didn’t taste good at all. Had an off taste to them. I didn’t finish my meal.
I wouldn’t go back again or recommend to anyone. $20 for one plate of food is pretty expensive. Not worth it.
My table was also in bad shape. The top was peeling off in the center.

First off the restaurant is a hole in the wall of sorts. Which is always the best kind. I got the burrito with shredded chicken and befriend beans. It was delicious. My friend had gotten the combo number three and loved it. It came with so much food. From the chips and salsa to the three leches cake I loved it. The service was quick and efficient and the server was wicked friendly. I say I would go again.

Arrived at 9:15pm on a Saturday night. Walked inside and was turned away because they said they were closed. Online says open until 10pm and sign on the door says open until 10pm. There were other patrons enjoying meals at their tables and others walking in to pick up orders. We were turned away due to the restaurant being “closed” yet they were still operating.

I love pleasant surprises and this new Mexican place located right beside a convenience store, across–of all places–Taco Bell, Dave’s (formerly Benny’s) is definitely an oasis in what seems like a good food desert (not counting the Chinese restaurants and Italian deli places that line this year towards Oakland Beach). So in we went on a weeknight.
The interior decor, with the big wall mounted suns, reminded me of another nearby Mexican place but this one’s got an extra twist of multicolor ceiling lights. It was a warm respite from the onset of the cold weather and darkness outside. I was impressed that they had at least 3 tables occupied that evening and turnover that was not too shabby given the day and time of the week. Good sign. The servers were helpful and friendly, ready to explain and recommend dishes.
We started with the flautas for appetizer–bomb! Best one I’ve had so far in all the RI Mexican restaurants. Their menu is diverse–the usual suspects (staples/favorites as tacos, chimichanga, burrito) are there–but they have some unique items. Took advantage of this uniqueness by ordering a Del Mar Salad with Grilled Fish and a Tapatio Enchilada for my husband.
On to margaritas! Nothing unique with the flavor available so we went for a large Black Jack margarita that is made with Chambord (raspberry liqueur).
Price is right as well. All told, we spent $73 for the above, with tax sans tip.
I really like this place for a very fundamental reason, which is its competitive difference–the taste and quality of the food. Sure that is subjective but IMHO, it has the most savory prepared Mexican fare by far.

My husband and I stopped here for a quick dinner; I was in the mood for Mexican food. We will definitely be coming back! The staff was super friendly and helpful. The service was quick. Our meals were out in less than ten minutes! We got chips and salsa to start (with no charge). The chips were fresh and warm. The salsa was also fresh. It had a great variety of vegetables! We ordered a steak burrito and a quesadilla ranchera. The burrito was enormous (we’re excited for the leftovers!). The steak was very moist and well seasoned, and the guacamole was heavenly. Our only complaint is that the burrito was slightly over salted, otherwise we couldn’t have asked for better. The quesadilla was exactly what we were looking for. The shredded beef was juicy, and the cheese was evenly distributed. I wish the tortilla had been crispier but it didn’t bother me too much because every other element was so good. The prices were about average for a nice Mexican restaurant. The bill came out to $33 for two people. We’ll definitely be returning to try more.

Went here for the first time and was NOT disappointed. The portions were generous, the prices were good, and it was a nice atmosphere. The staff was friendly and prompt and the food came out quickly. I went with my dad but I will definitely come back with friends and try the margaritas – it’s a nice place to hang out.
