I really want to give 5 stars as my sister and mom love this place so much. I took them, as well as a few others (10 of us) tonight but we were are disappointed with the service. The server was nice enough and Chez Paul explained the menu well and was very friendly but the speed of service and food temperature made it not such a great evening. It took nearly 3 hours. We did order some drinks and appetizers but we had to go up to bar for a soda refill and a martini took 40 minutes for a second. Our steaks were okay but not even warm. A side of Caesar salad was just as much as an appetizer ($12.95) and none of us liked the dressing. It tasted more like vinegar than homemade Caesar dressing. Our server was really trying but she was literally the only server (and bartender) in the restaurant. There was another gentleman who made the salad and brought our waters. We had to ask to clear plates to make room. We would have stayed for dessert but figured it’d be a long wait so we all passed. Sorry, just average, especially for a $500+ dinner. Maybe my expectations were a little high as my mom and sister raved about it but they even said this wasn’t their norm. I would try them again sometime but not with such a large party.

My husband surprised me for my birthday, while we were down here on vacation.
Such an outstanding, delicious & fun evening.
Chef Paul is a delight. He spent time with us & was like an old friend. The food is phenomenal. No menu. Chef Paul told us what was available that night & we had so many choices.
A bit of anisette, & a beautiful rose closed out a wonderful & memorable evening.

We booked one month in advance for my 34 birthday. When we arrived a few minutes early we were sent to the bar….for 30 min. A second party came in and was seated instantaneously which was very frustrating. I was given one very small glass of champagne for the trouble. That was a nice gesture. The service after we finally got our table was fairly steady but nothing exceptional. One thing you’ll notice is in its attempts to be fine dining you are offered extremely small everything. The first thing we we had was bread and oil which was fine but not memorable. The bread was hot but the oil and herbs tasted stale was very conservative. We were offered more bread but that offer came too late. The next thing which was my FAVORITE OF THE ENTIRE MEAL was a delicious peach mango palate cleanser which was phenomenal. Just the right amount of sweet and served in a nice unique way. Very good. Our food came out pretty quickly. As you can see my girl got scallops which I tried and was very tasty with a nice rich white sauce but the portions were laughable for $28. I got steak au poivre. It WAS THE WORST I HAVE EVER HAD. It was absolutely drenched in an overwhelming bitter and metal peppercorn. It was however cooked to the correct medium rare but it didn’t really matter because it was almost inedible. The potatoes were emaciated and Rick hard. The carrots had a bizarre fizzy taste to them. Chef Paul was nice enough and checked in on us. One of this time he bragged hot he cooks his carrots in club soda. It was a strange reveal. The major other problem I suspect is because of the extremely small quarters and frequent check ins, unless your willing to have a very uncomfortable face to face with the staff or chef Paul your limited to basically one choice: choke it down and lie, which I suspect is what’s happening for him to still be serving this terrible, one dimensional, visually stomach turning steak. The staff at the end did come over and attempted to do a casual end of meal review but the pressure on them is very apparent. The atmosphere is warm and comforting. Upon a more thorough observation I can see that the tables, chairs silverware and rugs haven’t been updated once since the place must have opened. Chef Paul was polite and has the charm and warmth you would hope though having a Bluetooth head set on is off putting and you never know if you’re getting his full attention. He looks very tired and like his personal pride and quality has taken a major hit and seen better decades. I would sadly not recommend

We were a table of 8 and we all give this restaurant 5 stars. Absolutely amazing from the time we arrived and left. We can’t say enough about Paul and his staff and how they all treated us like family….and they are family. Paul’s mom Ellen who is 99 delighted us with her special personality and such a hard worker. Thank you Ellen. Steve will now eat his bread! Nadine who took such good care of us and answering all our questions. Joe and Charlie wirh extensive wine and service knowledge. Every selection of food was awesome …beyond words. The stories Paul told to make us laugh were so special and precious. The entire dinner was a wonderful experience. We can’t thank you all enough. We’ll be back!!❤

We finally had the chance to dine at Chez Paul, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The table-side Caesar salad was a true showstopper—fresh, crisp, and full of flavor. The escargot was cooked perfectly, rich and delicious without being overpowering. For mains, we tried the grouper and the sea bass, and both dishes were outstanding—beautifully prepared, flavorful, and executed with finesse. From start to finish, the experience was top-notch, with food and service that made the night unforgettable. Chez Paul is every bit as special as its reputation suggests

If I could rate this place 10 stars I would! Easily one of the best experiences I have EVER had while dining out. When you first pull up it does not look like anything special but the inside is very nice, with a fancy feel to it and the meal was amazing. The service was spectacular and the owner even took time to explain many of the dishes they had (both on and off the menu). I would recommend literally anything from here, all of the food that we ordered(group of 6) was very very good. Throughout the meal the chef would provide us with small complementary items such a small plate of pesto as well as some amazing sorbet. And at the end of the meal the owner gave the ladies in our party some of the nicest roses I have seen! If you are ever in or around the Daytona area you HAVE TO try this place!

My wife picked Chef Paul Gourmet Restaurant for dinner and made reservations for 8:15 PM (they close at 10:00 PM).
At first, I was miffed because it took a few minutes to be seated, and no menus were provided up front; yet, we were asked what we would like for drinks. This was all a bit out of the ordinary for me.
Looking around, there were four other tables of guests. One had completed their meal and were prepping to leave, two others were awaiting their entrees, and the other watching Chef Paul prepare Caesar salads right at their table.
As I watched Chef Paul prepare Caesar salads for a table of five—mother and her four teenage children. I came to realize this was a special restaurant. The family was interacting with Chef Paul with much delight and happily watched as he made the salad with fresh ingredients at their table.
Chef Paul came over and described each of the appetizer choices by heart. We chose a Tuscan shrimp appetizer that was absolutely delectable.
We chose to have Caesar salads made and it was one of, if not, the best Caesar salads I’ve had.
I chose the Coquilles St. Jacque (scallops) entree. It was adorned with baby potatoes and carrots and an “out-of-this-world” white sauce. The presentation was awesome and there was plenty to savor and satisfy my palate.
Dessert was a mouth-watering Tiramisu. It was soft, moist, and delicious…a great ending to a wonderful dinner and experience.
Staff were very attentive, ensured we had all we needed throughout our meal.
We can’t wait to return and try something else. This place is worth every penny. Do NOT be in a rush and enjoy the company of those you came with, the staff, and Chez Paul.

A unique dining experience in Daytona that combines fresh gourmet food and a chef with a large personality. Plan on a long and entertaining night with a verbal menu, lots of conversation and laughs. Not inexpensive but a special occasion treat..

I wanted so much to celebrate Bastille day with a great French dinner, so we went to Chez Paul. The meal was good (not great). The calami was definitely over breaded. The issue that ruined the evening was the service that took over 3 1/2 hours… wait too long of a wait between courses.
