The value on this experience is very worth it! I’ve been to a few ayce omakase in the city and I think this was the best one. I loved how they coursed the ayce so you weren’t forced to guess how many pieces you wanted. I would say my only feedback was that atmosphere-wise there were just pieces of salmon sitting on blue paper towels in the background the whole experience but truly not a huge deal.

Shinn WEST delivers a beautifully curated omakase experience right in Hell’s Kitchen. It’s a little hard to find because Google
Maps has the location on the opposite side of the street! Led by Chef Mike one of the youngest sushi chefs in NYC—this concept is proof that age has nothing to do with talent. With nearly a decade in the East Coast sushi scene, his precision, creativity, and respect for the fish shine through every course.
The 13-course omakase ($69 per person) is an incredible value for the quality and execution. Highlights included the buttery chu-toro, indulgent o-toro topped with caviar, sweet botan ebi with uni, and perfectly balanced zuke akami.
The space is intimate and refined, making the experience feel elevated yet approachable. If you’re looking for high-quality omakase without the intimidating price tag, Shinn WEST is absolutely worth a visit.

This spot is kind of hard to find because it’s on the opposite side of what Google maps says… the fish quality is quite good for the price. I did feel like it was a bit rushed and didn’t have time to enjoy each piece. I think it makes sense as they have parties coming in every hour. I would appreciate a longer dining experience. The standouts were the fatty tuna and salmon with truffle. Also enjoyed the shrimp with uni and scallop. I ordered the Wagyu foie gras add on which was torched and quite flavourful

Shinn West — Endless Salmon AYCE
Fantastic experience. The salmon was served in several styles and every dish was fresh and flavorful. The service was attentive without being pushy. Relaxed atmosphere and generous portions made it feel like a great value. Would definitely come back if they host it again. Highly recommend.

I went to the Endless Salmon carving, all-you-can-eat experience and was mildly disappointed. Most of the pieces were fairly basic—either plain salmon sashimi or salmon over rice with wasabi. While there were a few pieces that included foie gras, truffle, caviar, or salmon roe, those were very minimal compared to the large number of simple, repetitive salmon-over-rice pieces. Aside from a few really nice bites with foie gras and truffle, the experience felt very repetitive overall.
The chefs also weren’t very engaging or communicative, and it often wasn’t clear what you were being served. They seemed rushed, and I either couldn’t hear them or they didn’t explain the pieces well, so I found myself asking the people next to me what we were getting.
This felt much more like an experience than a food-focused dining event. You do leave feeling fairly full, but given the lack of variety, explanation, and engagement, I wouldn’t do this again and I don’t recommend for the price.

Amazing omakase experience! Every course was fresh, beautifully crafted, and full of flavor. The quality far exceeded the price, making it one of the best-value sushi experiences we’ve had. A perfect balance of taste, presentation, and atmosphere. ✨

Shinn West is a nice budget-friendly omakase option in Hell’s Kitchen — $69 for 13 courses is definitely a great deal in NYC, and the fish quality was decent for the price.
They had a few cocktail options, but beer was limited to Kyoto IPA (original, yuzu, or matcha). The overall experience, though, felt a bit lacking. There was a strong fishy smell when I walked in, the space felt cold and not very welcoming, and the restroom really needed more care.
Out of the omakase places I’ve tried, this one felt a bit rushed — not much interaction or explanation between courses. Personally, I’d rather pay a bit more to have a slower-paced, more engaging dinner in a cleaner and more inviting setting.

Came for the Endless Salmon series at 6:30 and honestly, it was just okay. The chefs were really low energy and not interactive at all. They filleted the salmon in silence and even handed us the pieces barely explaining which/what piece of salmon it was. As a salmon lover, there was too much flavor fatigue. The salmon ikura bowl was stupidly salty and the last caviar dish had way too much creme fraiche. After the 16 courses, the chefs will keep making you salmon nigiri with different toppings and sauces until you say stop. I ate an additional 17 pieces, but they all tasted the same. No one else was eating and they kept giving me the same yuzu piece. For $125/pp after tip and tax, I wouldn’t recommend it.

We came here for their limited BOGO deal as a result of Shinn EAST being under construction. For $75/2 people’s worth of omakase I’d say it was a pretty good deal. The fish quality was definitely above supermarket quality but still not what I would consider “high quality”. Nevertheless, the sushi was still delicious.
While I was satisfied with the bites, I still left the restaurant hungry. I don’t think I could recommend anyone come here if they prioritize value for your money.

The omakase was great! The otoro was amazing, and I was a huge fan of the eel. Not pictured, the highball cocktail they had (seasonal?) was phenomenal, and matcha IPA was unique too
