I ate lunch here today. Had a grilled tenderloin and sweet potato fries. Service was fast and the beer selection is good. The tenderloin was tender and juicy. The fries were excellent.

I was in there July 30, 2024 for dinner. The waitress was so rude and had people walking out because she would look at them and take 5 mins she would go wait on them. I travel all over and I don’t think I’ll be back. Love trying new places. The food was good.

Slaby’s is a small bar in the middle of nowhere. nothing to brag about being there but not a place to be ashamed of either. I have been there several times in the past and always have had good food as far as bar food goes. On Thursdays they do a wings thing where they fry up chicken wings for you. it’s not the best price in the world but it is not too over priced. They have 3 or for different dipping sauces or you can have the covered in the sauce also… or both. My S.O. went last Friday and met up with some friends to have a few drinks. we had some drinks, cheese balls and split a tenderloin. before tip it was under $40. Bartenders are always good and I like to tip them well. it gets busy some times and it takes a while for them to get to you but they do their best always.

We stopped in for the first time for a mid-week lunch after reading that they placed high in the Iowa pork tenderloin contest a few years ago with their grilled tenderloin. I was not disappointed: it was a large piece of meat that was tender, juicy, and well seasoned. The price was a reasonable $6.50 (sides like fries are extra). They have a monthly calender of their daily specials (which includes things like casseroles), and the specials are also on their daily Facebook page.

The server Robbie was very friendly, outgoing, and efficient.

In terms of atmosphere, it’s an older business (over 30 years) with one large open room, a bar along the back wall, a single pool table, and both high and low tables. It’s clean, well lit, and the seats are comfortable. There is a very large parking lot (there was even a semi pulling a grain trailer there). There is also a picnic table outside. It was easy to find seating during the lunch hour. They had a good crowd of farmers/working men present for lunch. It was a friendly atmosphere.

We were very happy with our food and our experience at Staby’s, and will definitely return. I’ve already recommended it to friends and family.

I’m amazed at how a place in the middle of nowhere can attract so many people for lunch. The food and service are worthy of a visit, even if you have to drive a few extra miles away from civilization. I was impressed by my first visit. The only problem seems to be their short supply of available seating. That’s always a good indication of how beloved an eating establishment is among the local population.

A great place to stop for a damn good lunch. From the older gentlemen playing euchre, the locals enjoying drinks after a hard day of work, to the happy and smiling wonderful bar staff. A pleasant stop along the way.

This is a rural community sports bar that offers good comfort food served in a pleasant environment. There is a lunch and dinner special M -Sat. Monday night specials are probably the most popular, along with Wing night on Thursdays and Catfish on Fridays. Known for large tenderloins (grilled or fried). Food is reasonably priced and portions are generous.

I have always received good friendly service at Slabys which is a family owned business. Nice place to unwind at the end of a busy day with friends and neighbors. Very casual dress code. Nice assortment of cold beer and liquor, as well as soft beverages. For many of us who live nearby, this is a “Cheers” type environment to catch up on current news in the community. Located just a couple of miles north of I-80 Truck Stop on Hwy 130.

Delicious Dinners and a variety of reasonably priced choices on the menu. Genuinely friendly, welcoming and courteous staff.

I’ve always enjoyed this Establishment since my first visit in 1986 and is always a pleasure to patronize this small business that still carries the name of the original owners, Mr. & Mrs. Russ and Midge Slaby.

A nice 20-30 minute drive from Davenport, Iowa.

Slaby’s is a MUST!!

ENJOY!!
