Yummmmmm!! Can’t recommend Schiano’s enough! It was incredible – delicious food, made-to-order, served in giant portions, had a homey atmosphere (think authentic NYC pizzeria not Instagram hot spot, thank goodness), and the owner is super personable. I love that you can order a single slice and add toppings of your choosing…cheesy bread was kid-approved too! While we were dining in, there were multiple people stopping in for take-out or to have a quick lunch, and several commented that they stop in whenever they’re in the area. Note: because it’s made-to-order, it takes a few minutes to cook. If you are short on time or have antsy kiddos, call ahead. You won’t regret it!

I’m not sure how this place has so many good reviews, I assume they’re fake. This is definitely the worst pizza in the Raleigh area and the inside is a dump. Food tasted as bad as it smelled on the inside. Don’t believe me? Go ahead, order for your self and find out… The “garlic knots” were literally pieces of bread that didn’t even have butter on them, the cheese sticks flat out sucked and were still cold in the middle with no marinara offered and the pizza was just plain gross. This place could offer me a whole free meal and I would happily decline…
Edit* Very professional response from the owner. His attitude is about as good as his food.

The large pizza is fantastic and is truly NY-style. The antipasto salad was also great. I can’t wait to try a slice of the 36″ pie!

I had not been back in a while for no good reason. Came back for the BAKED RAVIOLI my kids favorite and treated myself to a GIANT SLICE OF PEPPERONI. Surprised the family with GARLIC KNOTS that blew us out of the water. My husband truly could not believe his mouth. My daughter literally closed her eyes eating the ravioli. And me? Well. Let’s just say the pizza was eaten before I even left (everyone else at home got takeout). The service is outstanding – I feel like it’s home and everyone who comes in knows the owner. Do yourself a flavor and head over as soon as possible. You won’t be disappointed.

Overall Score: 5.9/10 – Cozy and clean small pizza place with a simple online presence and a friendly atmosphere.
Atmosphere: 5.8/10 – The venue is small but very clean, offering a typical dine-in experience expected at a local pizza spot. The kitchen’s cleanliness is notable, contributing to a reassuring dining environment.
Service: 6.0/10 – The staff is friendly and accommodating, although the restaurant relies on third-party services like GrubHub for online ordering, which might not be as convenient as an integrated system. The menu is extensive, providing plenty of options to choose from.
Cheese Pizza: 5.9/10 – This pizza is very cheesy with a taste that stands out. The dough is slightly floppy yet retains some crispiness, striking a balance in texture. However, the char on the undercarriage from the oven detracts slightly from the overall flavor, which could be a downside for those sensitive to burnt tastes. The value is decent for the quality provided.

Atmosphere was not very good. The TV was blaring and that made talking very hard. The seating area is very cramped. The food was okay. You get a lot of food. The owner, I think, was very friendly and that bumped up this review.

HUGE slices and cooked just like NY Style pizza. Very reasonable priced and great little place in Gateway Commons. Service is terrific and reminds me of a small mom and pop pizza place in NY. Highly recommend Schianos.

How this is rated above 4, I don’t know. The dough was tough to eat and tasted like it was pre-made somewhere or earlier in the week. The pizza itself had too much grease sitting on top of it. I would not recommend this place and feel like I wasted a good pizza night. Other than that the staff seem to be pretty friendly.
Update: The owners response below speaks volumes. A better approach would have been “Sorry you had a bad experience. We look forward to meeting your expectations on your next visit”.
Regarding the time mentioned, we had ordered by phone and were told that our order would be ready in 25 min. We showed up 40 minutes after the call. Any pizza sitting on top of a hot oven should be in good shape. Stepping down review from two stars to one.

We’re from out of town. Got hungry for a couple of slices of pizza. Very few places sell individual slices, but we found this place on Google. We got there a half hour before closing (8:30pm). Door was open. A guy comes running up saying that they are closed. We pointed to the sign on the door saying that they were open another half hour. All we got was “not tonight.” No reason, no apology, just shown the door. Ten mile drive for nothing.

Sciano’s is awesome. Great food, great prices, nice bunch of guys who work there. I get food all the time here and it’s always been good. Reminds me of being in New York. I work nearby and they’re my go-to over any other restaurant around.
