We ordered soft shell crab, which was a smaller crab than I am typically used to at ither places, but it still tasted good and had a nice crunchy texture.
The mix tempura was probably the best tempura I’ve had ever. The texture was light and crispy and not soggy at all (which is very easy for it to get).
Then we ordered chicken udon for our 3 year old, who lodged the noodles and broth.
We ordered the Deluxe sashimi as our main dish and it was absolutely delicious! I loved the ice underneath the radish to keep the sashimi cold (my daughter loved it too and kept eating it).
They gave us edaname beans and green tea ice cream complementary which was nice before abd after the meal.
I highly recommend!
My best friend introduced me to Kiya Sushi on August 11th at 6 p.m., and I was pleasantly surprised that it was not crowded. The restaurant is tucked in the corner of a small strip mall, and while the exterior may look unassuming, the food more than makes up for it. Inside, the space is cozy, clean, and designed for efficient seating. The staff offer complimentary edamame while you wait and end your meal with a scoop of high-quality vanilla or matcha ice cream, which adds a thoughtful touch.
Must-Try Dishes at Kiya Sushi
Dream Box #2 ($48.95) – 4.8/5
A beautifully presented chef’s choice selection of 16 pieces of special fish served in nine mini bowls, including one mini ikura don. The fish was incredibly fresh, and the addition of two fried shrimp heads was a nice surprise. The real wasabi elevated the overall flavor experience. My only recommendation would be for the server to describe each fish and suggest an order of tasting to enhance the dining experience.
California Crunch Roll ($12.95) – 4.7/5
A flavorful twist on the classic California roll with shrimp tempura, crab, avocado, and cucumber, topped with tempura crunch and unagi sauce. Each bite offered a perfect mix of texture and flavor, and the portion size was generous for the price.
Lion King Roll ($13.95) – 4.7/5
Crab and avocado topped with baked salmon, tobiko, and sauce. Served warm and satisfying, this roll is hearty, flavorful, and ideal for anyone who loves baked sushi rolls.
Final Thoughts
Kiya Sushi may look like a hole-in-the-wall from the outside, but it is one of the best sushi restaurants in Fremont for those seeking quality and value. The fish is fresh, the service is kind, and the dining atmosphere is calm and inviting. Whether you stop by for a casual lunch or an intimate dinner, Kiya Sushi delivers a delicious and authentic Japanese dining experience every time. This spot has quickly become my go-to sushi restaurant in Fremont.
We started with the Avocado Roll, Veggie Crispy Roll, Lotus Root Roll, and Spicy Tofu Roll — each one fresh, flavorful, and beautifully done. For round two, we couldn’t resist the Crispy Eggplant and Crispy Artichoke rolls, and they were just as incredible.
We happily stuffed our faces with all that deliciousness, and the sake took everything to the next level — adding even more flavor to an already fantastic experience. We’ll definitely be back! They made it extra special by bringing Green tea ice cream with fried Banana for my kid since it was her birthday…
We ordered:
– Chicken skewers
– Beef skewers
– Sake Kama (grilled Salmon collar)
– Hamachi Carpaccio (yellowtail topped with jalapeño, lemon, ikura)
– Hamachi Nagiri
The food was clean and very flavorful, the way that everything felt fresh elevated each dish. This was a wonderful experience without going off of previous reviews, but their rating is well deserved. They gave us complementary ice cream to finish our meal, tasted like orange Fanta!
It’s in the small shopping center across from AHS. The parking lot is not so big for many businesses on a busy day, but it’s Friday and we found a parking space.
It was busy so we had to wait for about 1/2 hour outside.
The restaurant is small and filled with people, the AC was on just enough to be comfortable. The menu is quite big with many different types of special rolls. My son ordered most of plates since it’s his territory.
The prices are quite reasonable, may be for students around here.
The service is quite fast and attentive.
For 4 people we only need to order 6 special rolls and every one was full.
The rolls were tasty. I like the deep fried roll, spicy tuna roll, and all other rolls, LOL. I ordered the Sapporo beer but it never came so no drink for me. The free ice cream was a nice touch.
Good food, reasonably priced, attentive services, my kid likes it, it’s great for me.
