Great dishes. Lobster/duck so big tender. Friendly service. Very impressive in a casual setting.

There is lots of parking in the rear. The food is very good and portions are generous at a very reasonable price. Service can be slow during breakfast rush on the weekends. There is a breakfast menu which is a great value. It does take some time for the food to come, but when it does it is nice and hot. Condiments like chili, soy sauce and vinegar are not available on the table. If you want condiments, you will need to ask. The restroom is clean.

I believe Bay Garden Café is underrated for its authentic Cantonese food and HK café cuisine. Despite being around for over 6+ years, the place doesn’t seem as crowded as it used to be. They offer a great selection of Cantonese dishes, and their service is consistently fast. The pricing is very reasonable considering the generous portions of food you receive. The dishes are authentic, flavorful, and made with fresh ingredients. However, I must deduct one star due to the very dirty restrooms and old glasses/dishware.

Quick tips: Parking is available right behind the restaurant, which is shared with other shops in the same plaza. Street parking is also an option. They offer a lunch special from 8 am to 3 pm daily at a very reasonable price. While many people may be drawn to the new Alice’s Kitchen (one of the best HK cafés in the area) across the street, I encourage giving Bay Garden Café a try if you’re looking for something different. You might discover something you like even better at Bay Garden Café.

This review is strictly about their service, not food.
I have eaten at this restaurant with my family many times and their food is decent. Yesterday was the first time I ordered take out via the Fantuan App. I ordered curry chicken 咖喱鸡 and sweet and sour pork chops 京都肉排. When I arrived at 6:20pm, Fantuan app shows the order is ready for pick up. But only curry chicken is made. When I asked them, they told me the kitchen is making it. So I waited and waited. A family was seated, they ordered their food, their order came and they were already eating. I kept asking and they told me the cook was deep-frying the pork chops. Ironically, my order came out the same time they serve that family who was dining in their order of sweet and sour pork chop. My Fantuan order was placed in the app around 5:50pm and I got the order an hour later, including the 30 minutes I stood waiting in their reception area.
I contacted Fantuan for a refund and they said the restaurant refused because I’ve already picked up the order. They didn’t do anything to compensate my time of waiting. They said the kitchen was busy because it was Christmas Eve. If that’s the case, then why my order of Sweet and Sour Pork Chop, placed in the app at 5:50pm, came out at exactly the same time of the family’s order (which was placed while I was already waiting at the restaurant at 6:30pm)? I felt I was neglected because I placed an order via an app. If this happens during dine-in, you can probably reduce the amount of tips to reflect the poor service. But as a takeout customer, I can’t do anything except request a refund via the app which was denied by the restaurant. Fantuan gave me a $8 coupon after spending 30 minutes chatting with their customer service.
Safe to say I won’t be ordering from this restaurant again.

Bay Garden Cafe truly stands out among its peers as it captures the essence of authentic Hong Kong-style cuisine. Unlike other cafes with similar names that might fall short on delivering the true flavors of Hong Kong, this establishment exceeds expectations.

The breakfast sets offered at Bay Garden Cafe are undeniably good deals. The star of the show for me was the grilled chicken with egg dish. The chicken was expertly prepared, with its crispy skin adding a delightful crunch that contrasted beautifully with the tender and flavorful meat underneath. This dish was a true testament to the kitchen’s skills in delivering a well-executed and satisfying meal.

Another highlight of the breakfast set was the classic Hong Kong macaroni soup. This dish is a staple of Hong Kong’s comfort food scene, and Bay Garden Cafe’s rendition did not disappoint. The soup was hearty and comforting, with the macaroni cooked to perfection and the broth rich in flavor.

While the Hong Kong milk tea, a beloved beverage in the city’s culinary culture, wasn’t as robust in tea flavor as I had anticipated, it didn’t overshadow the overall experience. It’s worth noting that milk tea preferences can vary widely, and what might be considered a strong tea taste can differ from person to person.

The attentive and prompt service further added to the dining experience. The staff’s attentiveness and efficiency contributed to a smooth and enjoyable meal, making the visit all the more pleasant.

The interior decor of Bay Garden Cafe was a breath of fresh air. The brightness and cleanliness of the space created a welcoming atmosphere, enhancing the overall dining ambiance.

Furthermore, the convenience of ample parking in the back of the restaurant is a practical advantage, particularly in areas where parking can be a challenge.

All in all, my experience at Bay Garden Cafe was highly satisfying, and I’m eagerly anticipating my return visit to explore their dinner offerings. The cafe’s commitment to delivering authentic Hong Kong-style cuisine, combined with its attentive service and inviting ambiance, makes it a noteworthy dining destination.

Absolutely a good place to go for authentic Chinese cuisine, fresh ingredients with genuine flavour and pretty reasonable prices. A must try of their milk pudding, it’s really good!

The food quality has dropped significantly. Everything seems to be precooked and heat up. The staffs were friendly. The tables and chairs seems dated and worn out. One of the table was wobbling and the party had to switch to another one.

I never know what to think of this place. For some dishes, as one reviewer put it, they are “underrated”. Sure. But are they revolutionary in any way? No, definitely not. Are they knock your socks off GREAT? No, not quite. But they’re relatively priced OK, the staff is nice, and for the price, it wasn’t bad.
In previous visits, I always felt that it was just that: Passable. My last dish I had here though, the pork chops in soup noodles was pretty good. Their rice porridge was actually nice and smooth, and the chicken meat was actually really soft, which was really good and full of flavor. Their French Toast isn’t as big as the other place across the street we won’t mention, and they didn’t add any special jams like peanut butter or Kayan, but still good! Their milk tea I felt is on par with the area, but I prefer my milk tea stronger. So the TLDR is, I need to come back and try more dishes from this place, because my last visit was surprisingly better than the other times I’ve been here. Not bad!
