Solid langzhou noodle place. They make their own noodles in the back, and the quality is excellent. The price is fair as well and the orders were quick even for dinner.

We order a nice variety of dishes, and each one was really good, from the dumplings to the noodles and fried rice.

Solid location and yet not too busy. Wonderful, give it a try if you have the asian food cravings. Enjoy!

I’m a native of Lanzhou so I was excited to see this restaurant open in Berkeley.

We visited on a Thursday night at 7pm and it took around 25 minutes for a table to become available.

We ordered two bowls of Lanzhou Beef Noodles (one with the regular thin noodles, one with the thick round noodles), a roujiamo, and a celery and bean curd salad.

The salad came out first. It was mostly bean curd and not much celery. It tasted mostly of sesame oil and some garlic.

The noodles were hand pulled in the restaurant and you could see the chefs working the dough and making each bowl fresh. They the right texture and are the right thickness – like you’d get in Lanzhou. But the soup was lacking depth of flavor. It didn’t taste like a beef bone broth with Chinese spices simmering for many hours. It was rather bland. The chili oil was also not super fragrant, and the radish slices were too raw/not pre boiled.

The roujiamo was okay. I’m not a fan of green pepper chunks and the slightly sweet braise that they cook the pork in, but that’s a personal preference.

Service was efficient and friendly, if not minimal because the restaurant was super busy. And that’s what I suspect causes the bland soup — too many customers and they had to keep topping up the beef broth with water, thereby diluting the flavor. I’d be curios to see how it tastes earlier in the day when the soup was freshly made.

The handmade noodles were great! The big plate chicken is my favorite. Very big portion with reasonable price. Nice waitress and good service as well. I will definitely come back again.

Got my yaba daba doo… internal Fred Florine out here with great homemade noodles.

These rib bones are intense, tender and flavorful. Wish the soup would be spiced like a Taiwan version. Clearly Lanzhou is different.

Noodles were al dente and stick to your bones for sure.
Favorite place in Concord area.

Lanzhou is an ancient, desert city on the old Silk Road so its culinary heritage is as wide as it is deep. While I’ve not been there I would like to think the food here is pretty authentic Gansu province cuisine. It’s always a good sign when a restaurant is popular, but it’s a better sign when an Asian restaurant is full of Asian patrons. Everything we had here was good. The chili crunch oil condiment (which is mild and has smoky, earthy flavor) made everything even better. Guaranteed I’m going back.

Everything is so good! Good service and clean. The waitress was very knowledgeable and recommended a few dishes for us to try. The appetizers was very good. Some of my favorites growing up. My favorite is the cold skin noodles. So flavorful and yummy. The texture has a nice chew to it. Also try the cumin lamb chow mein with the flat noodles. Love the spices and flavors of it.

I went there for lunch today. I order the Lanzhou noodle. The thick noodle. It’s really good. The noodle is all handmade. The waitress Elaine is very friendly. She is very helpful when I asked her what should I order. She explained the different options like the soup base and the different kind of noodle. She is fantastic. The salad is really good. The shredded potato is very tasty. And the spicy beef has very good flavor. It’s definitely a great place to get lunch. I highly recommend it.
