I hate to leave poor reviews but this place was incredibly disappointing.

The butter chicken was SO uninspired and bland. To their credit, it came with an impressive amount of very soft tender chicken, but it too was also tasteless and colorless, as if it hasn’t been marinaded or grilled beforehand. The gravy has a good consistency but again, completely tasteless and immediately forgettable.

And they charge a premium price of $21 for the curry alone on doordash? That’s absolutely inexcusable for the lack of care and attention to the dish.

I also ordered two garlic naan. I received butter naan instead. Whatever, mistakes happen and I don’t dock points for that, but the texture of the naan was floppy, rubbery, and difficult to pull apart which is far from the ideal fluffy with a light crispy edge/bottom.

For the premium price I was expecting an elevated butter chicken but received a well below average dish I would not order again at any price. While it wasn’t bad, it wasn’t enjoyable either.

2.5/5 for the food but the audacity of pricing drags it down to a 1/5.

Solid place to get Indian food in Palo Alto. We came for a weekday lunch and they have a buffet with good selection. The food was tasty and I really enjoyed it. We paid $41.36 (tax and tip included) for 2 people.

There wasn’t too many people when we came so we were seated quickly and the waiters cleared our finished plates fast. They also provide complimentary nan which I appreciate. Also at the buffet they have a variety of different sized plates, which is nice so you can get as little or as much as you want at the buffet.

The interior is has many Indian decorations which makes the restaurant feel lively. There’s also many tables to sit at inside.

Parking: Downtown Palo Alto has many garages, so we don’t find parking difficult here at all. We parked at one nearby and walked over.

Went with the team to the lunch buffet and I thought it was a great value for the price. Lots of chicken protein options and vegetarian options.

Great place for Indian food at a good price. Lunch times tend to be busy but the waits are not long. Great tandoori chicken and lamb.

update Nov 2022: went back after a long time- still super delicious food and great service. Love the mango lassi. Highly recommend this place

PROCEED WITH CAUTION. I went there for the lunch buffet. I had one plate of food and I don’t think I have ever been more sick in my life. I wouldn’t post this if I wasn’t sure something I ate here was the culprit. Good luck if you decide to eat here

Went with a few friends, probably the most authentic taste in Indian food I have had in bay. Their mango lassi was bomb. Ordered chicken tikka masala, fish curry and a spinach chicken curry. Loved the food. Again, don’t forget their lassi.

They had really good food here! Our server was very kind and appropriately present, not overbearing in the least. We didn’t get to try the buffet, but they clearly have one. I’m guessing during lunch the place can feel a bit crowded, but that wouldn’t stop us from visiting. We are looking forward to visiting Darbar again!

This place was good! I was thrilled to open up the menu straight to a page filled with vegetarian options. We tried the aloo palak, which was creamed more than others I’ve had, and the Mattar paneer, which was quite flavorful if a little too spicy for my poor tongue. Also the rice and naan were included in the price of the curry – a lovely surprise.

This is tasty seems good quality food. The price is slightly higher than majority of Indian buffets. (21$ with taxes) What I don’t like, is tea with milk not included in price. And sweet milk balls almost hidden behind a pots. What I like that some dishes feels really delicious. But anyway, same with other buffets with spicy food, there is no way to eat a lot. Soon I feel that “Onaka ga ippai desu”.
