The Shawarma Guys in La Mesa Sucks – Does anyone else agree?

What a terrible lunch experience. I’ll never go back. They seem more concerned with their yelp reviews and media exposure than actually …

Food was excellent, I highly recommend the Chicken Swarma Wrap and is was crispy and fresh, hot off the grill. I really enjoyed their food. The employees were very friendly and the restaurant clean. There are a few tables and there was plenty of seats avaliable for lunch. Inbound suggest giving them a shot.

This place is lights out. The shawarma was delicous, staff incredibly friendly, and it’s a nice little spot to dine in. Came in with a large group of friends and they were super accommodating. We all loved it. Can’t recommend this place enough.

This was my first time dining at Shawarma Guys, and it definitely did not disappoint. One of the biggest highlights for me is that they offer gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan options—which is a huge plus for someone like me who has celiac disease. Of course, as with any restaurant, there’s always a risk of cross-contamination when dining out, but I appreciated that they were accommodating and understanding of my dietary restrictions.

I had been in Tijuana earlier in the day and hadn’t eaten since 8:00 AM, so by the time we made it to La Mesa, I needed something safe and satisfying before the long drive home. I’m still new to managing celiac, so I try to be as careful as possible.

When we arrived, we were greeted promptly by staff. They were polite, welcoming, and offered great recommendations. I explained my allergies, and they were quick to suggest substitutions, including a gluten- and dairy-free salad that featured garbanzo beans—it was flavorful and a nice surprise!

I ordered both the Chicken Shawarma Bowl and the Wagyu Beef Shawarma Bowl. The flavors were amazing—everything was well-seasoned, fresh, and cooked to perfection. While the bowls are on the smaller side and a bit pricey, they are filling and definitely satisfying for one person. Just something to keep in mind if you’re hoping to share.

We also got a side of fries (per my mom’s request), and they were delicious—crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. On top of that, we tried their Philly Wagyu Fries (I believe that’s what they’re called). I ordered them dairy-free by removing the cheese and gravy. They came topped with bell peppers, onions, their flavorful garlic sauce paste (which they confirmed is both gluten- and dairy-free), and juicy Wagyu beef. These fries were impressive—not soggy at all, and the portion was large enough to share between two people (or one if you’re really hungry!).

They don’t have a soda fountain, but they do carry a good selection of bottled drinks and refreshers. The restaurant itself was spotless, including the restroom, which I always appreciate. Service was top-notch—the staff even checked in with us after our meal and kindly cleared our plates. It’s clear they take great pride in both their food and service.

One small downside is that parking can be limited, but there’s usually street parking nearby if the lot is full.

All in all, this was a fantastic experience. The food was flavorful, the service was exceptional, and the staff went above and beyond. I’d definitely recommend Shawarma Guys—especially if you have dietary restrictions and still want to enjoy something delicious!

The food here is always delicious. The plates have a lot of food. It is normally enough for two people to share. Customer service is great too. Lala helped us today and she was super sweet!

We ordered wagyu beef shwarma pita sandwich and was given a chicken instead.. also got a wagyu beef shwarma cheese steak which was pretty flavorful. Kids eat free all day every day with the purchase of an entree. At the end they gave us the pita sandwich we ordered to correct the mistake they made which was nice of them.

The meat was seasoned with a bit of sourness which I’m not a fan. The pita bread was too dry and the texture was hard to chew. The rice and humus were good. The bread of cheesesteak was not a match to the steak which made the bread soggy easily. I think they need to fix the seasoing, all the after taste of the food mostly sour, not balanced at all. While it’s not bad, but I think they could improve. They have a great and spacious seatings tho, but food taste is all that matter

The philly cheesesteak was delicious here! I ordered the Wagyu Beef Shawarma Cheesesteak and fries on my first visit here. The flavor was great! The meat was juicy, well seasoned, and well portioned. I want to come back and try some of the other menu items, especially the chicken and hummus options. The young lady at the counter was friendly and provided excellent customer service! The restaurant itself is clean, bright and inviting. I can see why the review are positive. I can’t wait to try some more food here. Eat up!!!

Visited this past weekend with a friend with dietary restrictions (no gluten, no dairy) and we had a great meal! I got the beef and chicken plate that I enjoyed and she got the all beef plate and made a substitution for the salad, no issues at all. The pita bread that came along with the plates was warm and fresh, the hummus was good, and they had a good selection of drinks in the fridge. Will return!

The meat was very dry. Rice was good. Iraq salad is OK. Is it OK the sauce too strong? The stuff is friendly

It doesn’t get any better than this! SPECTACULAR! Easily the best shawarma we’ve had! Everything was well cooked, perfectly seasoned, super flavorful in ample portions. Blew us away! This will be our “go to” for all things related. Several vegetarian and vegan options as well! My highest recommendation!!
