Reviews
Old review:
This is my new favorite place in town. The food is amazing and well worth the price. My favorites are the Japanese Curry Katsu, the Bulgogi plate, and the Katsudon. Their fried gyoza is excellent too! Sometimes the way they present the food varies, see photos of the Japanese Curry Katsu on two different occasions. This is a casual place, very hole-in-the-wall sort of vibe. They will give you chopsticks by default, but you can get forks if needed.
The second time now we tried another raw sushi roll (tuna lovers) and another deep fried roll (power Philadelphia) and they were amazing and so fresh.
We also tried the the udon soup with fried tofu and it was really rich in flavor. With fresh veggies.
And another all time favorite of ours are Edamame – let me tell you, not everyone knows how to actually add some extra flavor to these but HaRu Sushi did
If you have not tried this – please sit down and have a meal – it will be well worth it.
My dish came out almost 40 min to an hour before my girlfriend got her food. If more staff gets hired then this place would be amazing. Right now they don’t handle the dinner rush well.
The food however was great.
Service- Our waitress was phenomenal. She knew everything about the menu and gave great recommendations. She was so patient and kind. Noticing we ordered an entree that came on a skillet for our 5 yr old (I know, I know, but the kid needs his bulgogi), she set it on a seperate table and brought us a separate plate to keep him safe. She was wonderful!
Sushi chef – very kind and efficient. Service as items were completed instead of waiting for the entire table. Asked how everything was and seemed genuinely interested in our answer.
Atmosphere – small shotgun style restaurant with few tables and bar in front of the sushi counter. Late 90s early 00’s hits playing on the radio. (One of our bench seats was sooooo squeaky though).
Food – rolls were well formed and kept their shape (Cali and rainbow). Nigiri was perfectly portioned and so buttery and fresh. Ginger dressing was homemade (different than the pink dressing at the other restaurants in colga, and in the best way). Chicken ramen – daughter (15y) said the broth instantly brought her into a great day. Huge portion, so she had it for dinner and probably lunch tomorrow as well. Bulgogi entree – son (5y) absolutely devoured this. Still a huge portion. So he has plenty of leftovers. Bulgogi was cooked so well and the flavor was great. Bulgogi Cupbap – hubby loved it with the spicy sauce.
They do have lunch specials mon-fri, which I’m excited to see about.
Kids menu – none available.
Seriously, this place was so wonderful we will be coming back.
