YamaChen Sushi continuously seeks ways to offer delicious-tasting Japanese cuisine in an inviting and warm atmosphere. We started as a family business that first opened our doors in 2003. Calling ourselves just Yama at the time, we only had four tables, truly just a hole in the wall. Through an arduous process of many trials and errors, Andy Chen was able to perfect the now YamaChen menu that we know today. Each day, for our customers, Andy Chen brainstormed ways to improve the quality of our food, from our in-house sauce to our fish providers, creating the signature YamaChen rolls that solidify our place in the restaurant sphere. He believes his success is due to his motto: Freshness, Sincerity, and Generosity.

Love the King Crab roll and Spicy Salmon roll with Shrimp Tempura. Perfect with seaweed salad and pork katsu appetizer.
Anna is awesome, very attentive service. I’m allergic to avocado she was quick to offer cucumber as substitute.

The selection is great, the sashimi is fresh, and the all of the food options we tried were AMAZING Not only that, the ambiance is perfect (not too loud even though we went on Saturday during lunchtime) and the service is top tier. We celebrated my husband’s birthday at YamaChen’s sushi last night, and it was such a great experience. This was actually our second time dining there. The first time, we were extremely impressed, but somehow we let time pass and forgot about this gem, which makes no sense considering how good everything is.
The food is excellent, especially the sushi, always fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The service is attentive and welcoming without being overwhelming, and the interior has a really nice atmosphere. On top of that, the location is perfect for us since it’s local.
We’re so glad we went back. This is officially our favorite local sushi spot, and we’ll definitely be returning. Thank you for your hard work and for making his birthday dinner special.

This was a very pleasant surprise. I’m very glad this is in my home town because it’s amount the top sushi I’ve had in NoVA in quite some time. The sushi was very fresh, as were the steamed gyoza. The included photo is evidence of that. Service was friendly and attentive. The decor is warm and inviting and the place is spotless (and doesn’t smell of cleaning materials, as can happen sometimes). I wanted to order more, but was full. I’ll certainly be back.

Maybe I went on a great day, I’m not sure since the prior reviews were a little concerning, but I’m surprised this place doesn’t have at least a 4.8! It was easily comparable with the best sushi restaurants I’ve been to. I had the Iron Man which was filling and delicious… like melt-in-your-mouth delicious . The woman who worked there was very nice & helpful! The ambience is peaceful and beautifully designed with relaxing music. Prices are fair for the portions. Definitely recommend!! Sorry my pics aren’t the best but I couldn’t get good lighting for some reason.

First time at YamaChen’s Suchi
I’m so glad I chose this restaurant for sushi night. The setting is clean, with a sense of style, and the staff was welcoming and vert attentive. They offer a larger selection of entree items as well as traditional sushi rolls.
I was, however, surprised that they did not offer miso soup like it’s custom at other suchi restaurants. The portions were fairly healthy and loaded with flavors, I found everything we had very delicious.
We received an order of fried rolls on the house, and they brought a small sliver of cheese cake for two on the house. It was the perfect way to clear your taste from suchi to something sweet. I strongly recommend this place if you’re looking for a well priced and tasty sushi spot.

We came here for a casual dinner near home and left incredibly satisfied. We had the spicy chicken appetizer and the sushi combo and all the food was fantastic. They also gave us spring rolls and a little desert on the house. Service was fantastic, the ambiance very relaxing and the food really really great! We will be coming more often!

This place is a must. We ordered a Sushi Boat and it was great, from the looks to the flavor everything was outstanding. The decor of the place is beautiful. The staff was also superb, very courteous and attentive. It was my wife’s birthday and they even had a nice gesture that went a long way with us, they made our dinning exp above and beyond. If I could add more stars, I would.
