We recently took the family to Sumo Sushi Ayce Grill in Oregon City and had a really enjoyable experience. The food came out hot and fresh, which always makes a big difference at an all-you-can-eat spot. We chose the Gold Tier menu, and I liked that it let us grab items from the buffet while waiting for our tablet orders to arrive — it kept everyone happy and not sitting around hungry.

All of the mussel dishes we tried were excellent, and the Cajun-style gumbo was a standout for me. Since we went on a weekend, the tablet-ordered items were a bit slow to come out, but in my opinion they were worth the wait once they arrived. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere felt comfortable for a family outing.

Portland needs more ayce spots. Sushi is solid and I like that they don’t do too much rice. I wouldn’t really recommend the rolls. The fish quality was better than I was expecting. I really enjoyed the hand rolls. The hot bar was also solid. Definitely recommend doing the highest tier option. Waited about 15 minutes on a Thursday night. Also, they add 12% gratuity automatically which is fair imo for the amount of self service!

Ayce gold package for lunch $27 total (Mon-Fri, 11-3pm)
The sushi is all made to order, none of it is sitting out. Fish was great!! no complaints at all! The buffet line is full of apps like gyoza, edamame, miso soup, shrimp, cucumber salad, dessert, drinks, etc. AYCE includes katsu, teppanyaki, ramen, steak bites, sushi rolls, shrimp, calamari, and more!! All made to
order!!

There is NO dine-in à la carte options, you order the buffet silver or gold and then you can add on extras from there but Gold
Includes all menu items. If you wanted 1-2 items only, then you would have to order the food to go.

10/10 need to come back for dinner to try some of their premium selections! Also
Some food is delivered by robot which is cool!

Edit: you can order the dinner menu options at any point even during lunch you just pay the food package for dinner price. Pictures added

Tried the AYCE here and it’s solid, but with some caveats. The buffet bar itself is pretty basic and not really the highlight—think filler rather than the main event. Definitely recommend upgrading to at least the Silver tier, which includes better options and makes the experience feel more worth it.

That said, the service is great—knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely helpful with explaining the tiers and menu. If you’re coming for AYCE sushi, skip the base option and go Silver or higher.

Review for Silver Lunch.
Food: 7/10 – chicken skewers were excellent. Udon was ok (chewy noods but broth was meh), ramen not my fav, fried foods were good. I didn’t care for the sushi rolls (ab sushi train quality), grilled shrimp was good. Dessert was nice. Mango juice and Thai tea were a great addition.

Service: 10/10 – plates were picked up fast, check-ins just frequent enough, smiles all around.

Atmosphere: 10/10 – no Sheri’s vibe left, well-decorated interior, super clean. Staff picked up empties and cleaned tables quickly.

First off, the staff MORE than works for that 12% service charge, so if you get upset ab it, YOU’RE the problem. I had better and more frequent service at this buffet than I typically do at a table restaurant. Service was attentive, friendly, and HELPFUL. Definitely worth/earned adding to the tip, even though buffets don’t usually get tips from me.

I would ask the floor manager to restrict the servers from wearing perfumes, however. Nobody wants food to taste like the staff.

We ventured in to try this new restaurant because we love sushi. Although it was busy, they handled it well. I would advise getting on the waitlist through their website before you go to prevent extended waiting in the lobby. The robot food delivery is fun and efficient. The buffet was very fresh and you can taste your way through their menu. We don’t eat a lot which means we aren’t good candidates for an All You Can Eat establishment. Truthfully we probably paid for much more than what we consumed but we are a family of small people. It was a fun experience. The only drawback was that we sat right by the kitchen and the constant beeping of a new order arriving was grating on our nerves which made us want to leave earlier than we would have otherwise. (Felt the same as someone’s phone going off constantly right next to you.)

All you can eat sushi. There is a medium sized buffet with gyoza, chicken on a stick (ridiculously good), soup, salads, desserts, and fruit drinks to pair with boba.

Sushi is made to order and delivered by a combo of wait staff and robots. We paid 30$ per adult for weekend/dinner. Can be as low as 20$ for weekday lunch (if the kids are out of school for the holidays).

We all liked the sushi (snow crab hand roll is a must try), everything tasted great, wait staff were all smiles and happy to serve, manager was walking around greeting everyone.

Tips for first timers.
-There is a gratuity included but you can add more at the end of you feel service was exceptional
-Dont need to buy kids drinks as there is juice on the buffet
-Order the full amount of items you want in your first order…they will come out as fast as they can be prepared and takes a few minutes for the food to start flowing.
-Enjoy the experience. It really is fun to hear the robots talking

Add a small okonomiyaki to possible ordered items …those things are delicious

This was an excellent experience and I would highly recommend it. Oregon City has never had something like this and I think it will do well. While I will miss Shari’s (RIP), I could not have hoped for something this fun/good to be in that space.

Its not your typical buffet style all you can eat.
There’s a few choices on the buffet line.
The crayfish style boil is definitely worth it.
Everything else is made to order. 15 items per 15mins per table with a 90min limit.
I wouldn’t recommend going with a big group if you’re wanting to eat a lot. Works great for 2-4 people.

Everything besides the cheesy corn was delicious.

I would go back in the future.
Our server Eric was excellent. A+ for services he provided.

Come hungry. I ordered off the Gold menu. You order on your phone and can order 15 items to be brought to your table at a time every 15 mins. From appetizers to soups and sushi rolls. There’s a buffet with lots shrimp, seafood boil, mussels and a salad bar that had some options. Staff was great very helpful. Great place for a big group or just for 2. It’ll be cozy. They do offer some drinks from the buffet but if you want a soda it’ll be extra even if you pay the highest tier. Oh and they include 12% tip for you. It was $40 for myself. You can take food home, you’ll get charged for it though. Overall it was a cool experience watching the robots serve food. The food was great, I HIGHLY recommend the short ribs in black pepper sauce.

This was my first time visiting any of the Sumo locations, first let’s start by taking a moment to say, each and everyone of the staff members are amazing! So friendly, they approach with kind, calm demeanor adding a warm comfort to the experience. The staff were constantly checking in on all customers as well as very knowledgeable regarding many questions they tend to be faced with.
Now the facility/resturant. The restaurant is very clean, and has such a warm and welcoming feel.

Now the food … well you’ve got to go… the food is amazing, a wide variety and all incredibly flavorful

Now the price… although In todays economy you may think this is a bit pricy however considering the amount of food you can order and the service and well let’s face it ROBOTS!!! The price is fair.

All and all Thai just became my new favorite Sushi establishment
