Food: 5/5 Excellent.
My mother and I were thoroughly impressed by the quality and quantity of the dishes. The mussels were plentiful and expertly marinated. The fries were large, thick, and hot.
Service: 4/5 Very Good.
The server was polite and professional. She spoke slowly and clearly to my mother who is learning French, therefore my mother was very happy to understand everything and reply. The server allowed for an authentic French experience which is so important for visiting tourists wanting a glimpse of local authenticity. My only reason for not giving an excellent was the presentation of the bill without first asking. It implies to leave. Perhaps I wanted to linger longer and have another coffee?
Ambience: 5/5 Excellent.
We love that the restaurant appears to be carved out of the hillside. Many interior walls are rough and irregular. I found the toilet charming because a boulder fills the corner as beautiful tiles are expertly cut and assembled around it like a shrine altar. It was totally unexpected but impressive.
Cleanliness: 5/5 Excellent.
Everything was clean, tidy, and welcoming. I could not fault it.
Value: 5/5 Excellent.
22 € for a three-course meal, and 13 € for a 50cl carafe of red Bordeaux wine. It is hard to find comparable prices for the portions and quality of food.
Overall: 4.8/5 Excellent.
If I ever return to Mont Saint-Michel, I will patron this restaurant again. It was so good that the following day, Tuesday 5, we returned and had a light lunch of salads and wine. Therefore, this review is after experiencing this restaurant twice in less than 24 hours!
Food was ok. The view from the terrace was nice.
So unkind.. unrespectful against customers. You see and feel that they don’t care as it is pure tourism! A pity that this affects the reputation of “la gastronomic Française” Louis de Funès is turning himself in his grave
Ordered a cappuccino and got a tasteless Americano with whipped cream.
Staff didn’t speak English (which is fine, by the way), but once they saw we struggled communicating in French, they proceeded to speak faster and louder, just to confuse us.
Menu outside stated they sold crepes, and inside, they laughed because we dared to ask for that which they advertised with outside.
So we settled for “galletes,” which is French for tasteless cardboard with cold yet melted cheese. Now I’m not one to judge foreign foods, but if you’re in the country famous for its “culinary delights and masterpieces” and charge premium prices, you at least need to match the taste of a stale 3 euro döner kebab found in a trash bin in the banlieue.
This restaurant is the embodiment of everything wrong with France, rude people who hate foreigners-but need foreigners because without them they’d have no income, underwhelming low quality trash which only gets sold because there literally is no other option, you are stuck on an island and there is no way out. You must consume this trash and you’ll accept it and be grateful because the blessed owner thinks he is ordained by God himself to feed poor tourists overpriced cardboard trash and you’ll like it, and you’ll either speak fluent French or deserve to perish. How dare you expect at least the quality and service that matches an emergency refugee tent camp. Tremble, puny tourist, and be humbled by the very air you breathe! For you stand in the presence of greatness, within a culinary sanctuary ordained by the Heavens themselves. This is no mere restaurant, this is a testament to the Divine Decree that placed the French at the pinnacle of culinary artistry. The universe itself bowed to their mastery. Consider yourself blessed, mortal, to even glimpse this perfect harmony of the senses, for here, the French, the Chosen Ones, grant you a fleeting taste of Paradise itself.
