It’s a mom and pop type of restaurant. Been in this location for 35 years. Everytime so fresh, hot and very flavorful. It wasn’t very busy when we went, so we got quick enough service as expected. Prices were surprisingly high but in my opinion the quality of the food was really good. Dated fixtures and tables, and not too impressive on the outside, but don’t let it deter you from having some really good food. Worth the visit. My chicken and vegetables was excellent as well as the Mongolian beef. So tender and flavorful.

I have driven past here almost daily for several years and finally decided to give them a try for lunch the other day. I was not disappointed! I was seated right away and offered tea. Everything came out quickly and was hot. The portion sizes are on par with every other Chinese restaurant I’ve gone to, but the chow mein is the best I’ve had! I am a garlic lover, and I could see the minced garlic in the vegetables. The breading on the sweet and sour pork was perfectly done, though I would have liked more of the sauce (personal preference, my husband would have thought it was just right). Prices are reasonable, and I will definitely be back. I’m disappointed I haven’t tried them sooner!

Basically the only place to go for down-home good Chinese here in Salem Oregon. Food is always fresh no old veggies or meat sitting around to serve. Prices are more than reasonable. The family that owns it is always friendly and quick to take your order. Whenever we have need of going out they have anything from soup to food my family always goes here. Back when they would sit people in the restaurant they were always very friendly and never left you without checking in on you several times. Facemasks are required right now and to go ordering is your only option. But if you call ahead they will make sure your food is done at the time they say. It will be hot and fresh not sitting under a hot plate. They are happy to make substitutions and don’t charge a fortune for them. They are allergy friendly and very knowledgeable about their product and will tell you if there’s something in it that you need to avoid. Love this place can’t say enough good things about the staff!

The food is very obviously made with love, by people who have been making delicious food for the Salem area for a long time. Stopped by for some takeout while I was in the area – if you get the chance to stop by, I highly recommend ordering one of the combo plates and reading the Kuong’s historical articles framed by the register while you wait

This place is very conveniently located, and I hoped it would be good. However I ordered General tso. And it came out as a soupy wet mess. I brought it up nicely to the server who demanded “order just the chicken”. Everyone I talked to was incredibly rude.
The place feels dirty and like it hasn’t been upkept since 1972. I am really amazed their ratings are as high as they are. It smells like a dead animal outside, and looks like they painted it with recycled paint from the dump.
I wonder if they get health inspections, because im sure they would fail.

The dinner was amazingly delicious. We had the pepper-salted shrimp, wor wonton soup and the special lo mein. Fresh veggies. The best Chinese food in Salem. The staff were courteous and friendly. Easy parking.

I have been eating there off and on for years now, and it is one of the finest Chinese restaurants in Salem (Oregon). The food is superb and always well-cooked. The restaurant itself has an attentive, family-style feel to it that is unpretentious and very casual. It is one of those unheralded gems of a place that are worth experiencing; most especially for the food itself, because that’s what it’s all about – the wonderfully delicious Chinese food!
