Overall tasty and we enjoyed ourselves, but not the best experience in the area.

We got the lion king and California roll but 1 get 1 special, Tom’s roll, Nathan roll, and a salmon roll.

The lion king roll was not my favorite, even though usually it’s my favorite roll at places, but my bf liked it. It fell apart a lot and I didn’t enjoy how it was super super mayo-heavy. The California roll was pretty tasty. The salmon roll flavor was very nice, but it was pretty rough in its presentation and was really unevenly sized. The Tom’s roll and the Nathan roll were the tastiest by far, both were really enjoyable and a good size.

One thing that really didn’t do it for me was that the Salmon roll price on the menu was 9.95, but when the bill came, it was 11.95. I understand prices change, but you should be giving people that information before giving them the bill. If I had known, I wouldn’t have paid 11.95 for the Salmon roll, I probably would’ve just paid a bit more and ordered a 2nd Nathan roll instead.

Our waitress was very attentive and nice to us, no complaints there, she was great.

We’ve been coming to Yellowtail since they first opened on Park Street about 17 years ago. It’s become an Alameda institution. The sushi is solid; one of the owners, Gary makes most of the sushi and his attention to detail is fantastic. Large menu which I’ve not explored entirely but I love some of the appetizers like stuffed crabmeat prawns, sunomono, gyoza and bacon wrapped scallops. The sushi is very fresh. The owners Gary and Joe are really kind, and especially Gary is funny. The servers tend to be on the younger side but are generally very attentive.

It is lovely. It has fresh sashimi and sushi roll. The tuna is blue fin tuna and is gorgeous. Overall, compelling price with good quality of food! Will definitely go again !

Very good prices. Lunch combos good. But miso soup too salty. I had seafood ramen which was good, with calamari, scallops, fish. We also had soft shell crab appetizer and lunch special with salty miso soup, salad, 5 pc sashimi.

Ordered 15 piece chef’s choice, ankimo, and a Gary’s roll. The ankimo was decent, but Gary’s Roll was bland, and the 15 piece sashimi was mediocre. The sashimi portions were quite big, but the taste wasn’t there. For the 15 piece, we had 4 pieces each of sake, maguro, hamachi, and 3 pieces of a white fish. The food quality didn’t justify the price.
