Casa Amigos is our new favorite Mexican restaurant! So many interesting options on the menu, including many dishes that were new to us even though we both hail from California, lots of great alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and five different dessert choices.

The chips at Casa Amigos are so good — warm and crunchy. The guacamole made table side was delightfully fresh, bright with lime juice, and tasty. We enjoyed it so much that we barely had enough room for our entrees.

My husband ordered the Ixtapa Fajitas, which featured generous portions of shrimp, scallops and chicken. My tamale dinner had equally generous portions. Dinners are served with both rice and beans, so no need to choose one over the other like some Mexican restaurants require.

The rice is served in the shape of an Aztec pyramid, topped with a mini Mexican flag. Other atmospheric touches include table tops decorated with ceramic tiles and intriguing portraits of Aztec warriors painted on embossed metal on the walls.

We are looking forward to returning often to work our way through Casa Amiga’s menu!

We had a wonderful belated Birthday meal with our fantastic friends Scott and Sue at Casa Amigos restaurant in Mound. I was surprised with a Sombrero and Fireworks, accompanied by Happy Birthday sung by all. We also were brought fried ice cream for all of us compliments of the chef! Highly recommend Casa Amigos if you want great Mexcian cuisine for a great price!

Not a great choice for large groups. I had called twice in the two weeks prior to make a reservation for a Saturday at 4:15. They said that I could the first time I called, and he said he had me down. I then told him how many people, day and time because he never asked. I felt uneasy about it because I had a party of 15. I called again two days later to confirm I had a reservation. He had no record, but said I could make one and took my info again. I knew I wasn’t going to have a reservation and just went with it. When the first of our group arrived, the staff had no reservation or notice of our group. That was fine, they arranged tables to accommodate us in the moment. The waitress seemed overwhelmed with that many people in a group. The food came out sporadically over a 20 minute span and they couldn’t match person with order. And they were using different words to describe the food then the menu used so when they asked the table who ordered it, no one claimed it because they didn’t know to. The checks came out a mess and took awhile to distribute. We were a large group, so I understand the struggle. We had to pay at the register, but weren’t told that, so we spent an obnoxious amount of time taking up space waiting for the cards to be collected and ran. And in the end, the food was just okay. Forgettable, but filling.

Food was excellent and service was great. We had our food within 10-15m of ordering. I had the flaming fajita and it was hands down one of the top 3 all-time best fajitas I’ve ever tasted. The wife had enchiladas and my son had mac and cheese with fries (bless his heart). We will definitely eat there again.

Edit: Just ate there again but ordered take-out this time. Guess what!? Them flaming cheese fajitas are still banging!!!!

The staff is very welcoming and friendly and they are quick to assist with needs.

The food is fantastic! This has become the go-to spot for when we head out as a family. My personal favorite – the flaming fajitas! Not just sizzling….FLAMING! I love the experience of that entree. Queso is great, chips and salsa are abundant and great as well.

Even better, a couple of tv’s with sports on to enjoy while you eat. Just a great spot.

Update: The restaurant indicated they were closed on June 16. That’s the problem we experienced. Their website allowed me to place a delivery order for a day they were not open. I’m not going to try again even though I’ve heard good things about the food.

On June 16, we ordered delivery for a birthday dinner. The restaurant’s website and Google Maps page both indicated they were open and the order went through online and my card was charged.

The food never showed up. For a birthday. We called the Casa Amigos repeatedly and the phone continued to go to a generic voicemail which didn’t identify the restaurant or their hours.

This was an extremely disappointing experience. We ended up ordering from another local Mexican joint and the food was delicious and delivered very quickly.

The lesson here is not to trust Casa Amigos online ordering or website or Google Maps listing. If you would like to eat there, drive to the restaurant and hope they are open.

A new Mexican restaurant in Mound. The menu is huge and it offers menu items for veggie lovers, and GF. You get free chips and salsa (salsa is not spicy). Parking is free at the parking lot. The service is quick and the food delicious.
