For a guy who’s been away from eating beef for over 20 years, I must confess I’ve been baptized with this brisket. This ia my fifth (5th) visit to Sm ke House 64 and they never disappoint.
This trip, I had the opportunity to catered to by Leonna, and she represented as a true model of the core value of service. The friendly and attentive attention is a serious culture with this establishment — and I love ❤️ ‼️
This round, I had my usual brisket dinner with sides of mac & cheese, baked beans, added the yams, and a catfish (new on the menu). Every item possess it’s own tantalizing flavor, and the catch is definitely in the “taste good” ranking. The food and service to so superb, insisted the owner to consider a location in Miami and Atlanta. Until next time, eat well‼️

Wow!!! Great smoke ring-and flavor on the brisket!! Do not pass this place up.
Additionally the coconut pies could only be better warm.

As a trucker Ive had alot of brisket and bbq across this country and must be honest, texas bbq and brisket are mostly over rated, arkansas has most beat…that being said, this place has some amazingly good food and awesome brisket. Being located in a truckstop, for the average person the atmosphere is lacking, but the food and service are top rate. Do yourself a favor and have some actually decent bbq in the state that is usually proud of dry flavorless meat lol.

This is by far some of the best BBQ we have ever had. Don’t let its location at Dukes Travel Center fool you. It’s every bit as good as Black’s in Lockhart. My husband and I both got the brisket plate. I was tempted to get ribs but the brisket was calling my name. Leo, the brisket magic maker, could not have been a nicer man. He gave me a taste before he fixed my plate. Yup that sealed the deal! It is worth the drive, from DFW, Terrell, even Shreveport. Give it a try – you won’t be disappointed. Warning – my husband got the spicy bbq sauce on his and wished he had done like I did – on the side! The sauce is delicious but the meat is so dang good you just rather not cover it up. The Mac ‘n cheese was great, the green beans were just okay – because they weren’t hot enough. All in all a solid 10 out of 10.

Honestly I wasn’t impressed. The brisket was more fat than meat, the turkey was dry and they where out of most meats at 6 o’clock at night on a Wednesday. They only had 2 sides at the time, Mac and cheese along with almost gone mashed potatoes that the handle of the scoop was sitting in and the girl was scooping it with her bare hands. For spending almost $60 for two people I was not impressed. We ordered a 1 meat platter, a 2 meat platter and 2 fried pies. Atleast the pies and mac and cheese where good.

I’ve been to Duke’s in Mt Vernon and really liked the food there, but at this location it’s just not good. The brisket was dry, except for where it was extremely fatty, and had a weird aftertaste to it. The mac and cheese was alright but not worth it for the $20 price tag of a one meat plate. You can tell the employees behind the counter really hate their jobs (can’t say I blame them, Duke’s as a whole just sucks). Tables were cleared and clean, that’s really the only positive thing I can say. I wouldn’t come back again.
