Now, while the food was a total knockout, the service could use a little pep in its step. Don’t get me wrong—the staff were friendly, but it felt like they were juggling a bit too much, and we were left waiting longer than we’d hoped. A smidge more attentiveness would’ve made the experience flawless, but honestly, the mouthwatering katsu was so good it stole the show! If you’re craving a meal that’s a 10/10 on flavor and don’t mind a tiny wait, Kobe Gyukatsu is your spot. I’m already counting down the days to my next plate of that juicy, crispy heaven!
This is a place known for Gyukatsu but it has other food as well such as udon and ramen. I ordered a beef combo ( it has salad, miso soup, cheese corn and a couple sauces ) and a ramen.
The Gyukatsu is decent and you cannot get it without the combo. I would give it a 4 star but unfortunately the ramen is below average. I would give it a 2.5 to 3 star. Maybe it’s because the restaurant is specialized in Gyukatsu so they didn’t put too much effort into other food. The ramen is just regular ramen where I can cook myself.
The service is good and the server is friendly. The price tends to be on the expensive end around $30 something for the Gyukatsu combo but I don’t think it tastes that good for it to be worth $35-40.
Average out I would say this is a 3.5 – 4 star restaurant but since I love the cleanliness and friendly service, I’ll give it a 4 star.
We ordered an appetizer (kushiyaki for $8.95) and two sets (beef cutlet set for $25.95 and curry pork cutlet for $18.95). The appetizer was good, but the standouts were for sure the sets we ordered. I love how I can control how done I want my beef to be. The two dipping sauces for the beef set gave it a nice kick too! The pork cutlet was crispy and lean. I enjoyed dipping the cutlet in the curry and doing the same for the beef as well! Each set had its own mini stove for cooking, which makes for a hot meal but also potential for you to hit the black surface and possibly get a slight burn. Just be careful when you are navigating the stove (or two like we were!) as you cook and reach across to grab other items.
Because of the cooking apparatus, you will smell afterwards so also plan accordingly. I was so stuffed afterwards and appreciate the large plaza that I could roam around while digesting my meal.
Parking is very easy here, lots and lots of spots!
I ordered the Premium Gyukatsu Combo, and Pork Cutlet Combo. Food was an unexpected delight! I really like how this place breads the beef. The flavor is not overwhelming, and adds a nice texture to the beef.
The sides were also delicious! The salad was addicting. Once the food arrived, I thought to myself that it was not a lot of food (especially for how much I was paying). Cooking on the little heated grill is a nice aesthetic. By the end of the meal, I was stuffed and happy!!!
The service here is great too! The outdoor dining is nicely spaced apart, and there is staff ready to assist at all times. Fantastic experience. Will definitely be returning.
The food here is excellent, got two of the gyukatsu sets and they come with a stone grill cook at your table. It was interesting and we enjoyed it. Also got the katsu sandwiches which were delicious along with the snowy cheese flakes gyukatsu set which was full of novel and delicious flavors.
Only complaint is that we only saw the server infrequently and were quite thirsty waiting for water to be refilled.
Would recommend the food, we’ll be back and maybe we’ll have better luck next time
