Casual Thai and sushi restaurant. Large menu of well known Thai dishes that are well prepared. Located in an Essex strip mall. Service was fast and friendly. Portions are generous. Prices very reasonable. My Tom yum shrimp and fried spring rolls were very good. I will return to this place again. Take out available.

This has been a spot we return to again and again.
Maliwan has an inviting atmosphere and the food is consistently delicious, hot, and thoughtfully prepared.
I have a seafood allergy and they are always poised to accommodate it with a vegetarian menu that is more extensive than standard Thai restaurants (which I understand is hard because of the culture’s use of fish and oyster sauces.)
I like how there always seems to be a table but their place has a good flow of patrons.
It is a nice spot to bring friends and enjoy a meal and be able to hear each other easily in dinner conversation.
Overall, this is a great place to dine. Reasonably priced, made fresh, kind staff, quiet yet full of life environment, and a tasty expansive menu.

So so good! We got crispy pork basil, tomyum, spring rolls, crab rangoon, thai tea boba and thai iced coffee. The dishes were honestly really yummy. The spice level was also pretty solid! The boba was kinda mid but i rly enjoyed it nevertheless. the coffee was good as well (pretty sweet) The prices are incredibly reasonable. I’d definitely to come back!

Fantastic spot. Normally I would avoid restaurants in plazas but we decided to stop in for a quick bite. The menu had lots of great options without being too overwhelming. The prices were very fair and we got 2 appetizers and 2 entrées for less than $40 which blew my mind. The quality of the food was superb. We had huge portions of food and took home the extras and they made for great leftovers. The inside is nice and lends itself to being a welcoming lunch or dinner venue. All in all it was a great experience and I’m so glad we tried it on a whim because now I can say Maliwan Thai is my favorite restaurant in Essex!

OMGoodness. I CANNOT wait to go eat at this place again. I can taste the authenticity. We’re a family of four and we all LOVED our meals. I am so excited to have found it. The spending is worth the money because of the serving sizes. I was able to get two very large meals out of this. Couldn’t be happier about it.
