The brioche was amazing!!! It had a curried butter and we couldn’t get enough. Perfect sharing size for 2 people and a steal for only 8 bucks.

My wife and I have dined at Oak Park before and had a wonderful experience, so we have been looking forward to coming back for a long time. Yesterday we finally returned to celebrate my wife’s birthday, and it was also our first date night without our baby in 8 months, which made the evening very special for us.

Overall, many dishes were excellent. The Caviar Cone is still our favorite and just as memorable as we remembered. The Potato Gnocchi was surprisingly good, and the oysters with garlic butter were delicious. The lobster ravioli had great flavor, although it was slightly on the salty side. The Oak Park Caesar salad looked different from our previous visit but was very refreshing. My wife also enjoyed the Chilean sea bass, which was fresh and cooked beautifully.

Unfortunately, the lamb pie that I ordered was quite disappointing. The sauce was extremely salty and overwhelmed the entire dish. I mentioned this to the waitress when she cleared the plates, but there was no follow-up or acknowledgment afterward.

Given the restaurant’s reputation and price point, I expected a little more attention to customer feedback, especially when something goes wrong with a main course.

That said, we still appreciate many aspects of the meal and the memories we’ve had here. We hope the kitchen and service team will take feedback like this seriously so the experience can continue to match the high standards Oak Park is known for.

A true 5 star restaurant in DSM. The entire experience did not disappoint. From the pre-dinner cocktail, to the four courses, the extensive wine list with sommelier assistance, the service, and the atmosphere were all excellent. Did I mention the service? Jules our server and her team provided excellent service throughout the dining experience

I can honestly say I did not expect a restaurant of this caliber in Des Moines but it was AMAZING!!!!

I’m mad at myself that I forgot my servers name, but he was amazing!! Every single dish was incredible, the wine selections were perfect, and I couldn’t pass on the banana split!

Money was spent, but it was worth every dime!

10/10! Oak Park is a truly lovely and top notch dining experience without the snootiness. Atmosphere is peaceful, servers are professional, friendly, and so knowledgeable. Anthony was our server and elevated the experience just that much more. The sweet corn ravioli small plate was probably the best thing I have ever had, with the flavors just unfolding… it truly told a story. Everything was amazing. The spirit-free cocktail list was also a real treat. My mom and I went, and here’s was we ordered: Drop It Like It’s Hot mocktail, Cabernet Savignon Franc (x 2), sweet corn ravioli, beef carpaccio, crab bucatini, Amish chicken, raspberry soufflé, and an espresso. Bill was ~$213 before tax/tip. OH — and the chef was not happy with the first chicken he prepared for me so they gave us two caviar cones on the house while we waited. The most surprising moment, though, was when a guest at the table beside us said she had forgotten her glasses and our server went to a cabinet in the dining room and brought her a pair of readers without missing a beat. 1st of all let me say this:
COLE- awesome and personable waiter! Great customer service!

If you plan on a great service for your wedding anniversary, this is the place to go

-the atmosphere was amazing, the ambiance and the subtle music was great!

-the food. period.
There is no word beyond my own vocabulary to describe how delicious this was. I would start off with a drink (of course ) and for the appetizer, the gnocchi. Thank me later. Then, my wife and I shared the Cesar salad.

My wife got the pappardelle. I got the filet Mignon. The pappardelle is a pasta that had this savory flavor with a hint of lime and rosemary and the filet mignon by it self was so delicious!

And lastly the dessert.

If you want a nice pyrotechnic show, order the Sunday. You get a scoop of banana saffron ice cream, then pistachio, I can’t remember the last one I think it was vanilla (forgive me if I’m wrong). It also came with and alcoholic boba, and fruit, gold leaf, and freeze dried angel cake, and 3 honey sugar leaves (obviously not real leaves).

Four of us dined tonight at Oak Park on Ingersoll. We were welcomed at the door and thanked for coming out on a snowy evening. After being seated we were presented with menus from our server (who did a great job throughout the entire night). The menu was explained well to us and we made some choices that everyone loved from starters and through the entrees.

Some of the best starters were: the Brioche bread and the potato gnocchi. The gnocchi was truly the hit of the evening with everyone. My Filet Mignon was wonderful (and I am picky about steak having grown up on an Iowa farm where Dad raised Black Angus). My wife and SIL both had the Chilean Sea Bass which was also wonderful. I tasted some of it and it was better than any other I have had at high end restaurants anywhere.

We brought our own Magnum sized bottle of wine to share for which we paid one corkage fee. The desserts we ordered included Crème Brûlée and scoop of sherbet and some fresh-brewed French Press coffee. Overall we all agreed that dining at Oak Park tonight was a better experience than any other fine restaurant in the Des Moines area.

The service from everyone was truly fantastic.

10/10 all around! We had an incredible experience. The ambiance, food, drinks and service were all top notch. They threw in tiny little touches to go above and beyond (see the happy trees in my video) to make the experience extra special.
For starters, we enjoyed the octopus (my husbands favorite), the Brioche (some of the best bread I’ve had), gnocchi (probably my fav all night) & the beet salad which was very unique and had tiny crunches of slightly bitter chocolate. I love chocolate and don’t realize what it was, so it’s not what you’d expect.
For mains, my husband had the Chop, which was literally incredible and huge. It had so much flavor, some smokiness but not too much, smelled like bacon, & topped with cherries. It was also HUGE!
I enjoyed the snapper, which was light, buttery, and perfect with the potatoes.
Dessert was my favorite, the chocolate soufflé. Oh. My. Gawd. Yes.
If you haven’t been, make a reservation and GO! They also have a cool chefs table experience I’d like to try at some point.

Exceptional food and service in an upscale atmosphere. I had the filet mignon and it was probably the best I’ve ever had. Because of the price, I feel it’s more of a special occasion restaurant.

This was such a beautiful experience all-around! My hubby surprised me with a reservation here for our weekly date night. We dressed up because we spend all week in casual-wear, but there is no dress code. It seems like they can accommodate any diet if needed. Our server Colby was great! She made wonderful suggestions and was attentive but did not hover. The meal starts with an amuse-bouche which changes daily. We ordered the beef carpaccio which was topped with pickled ramps and red sorrel–the perfect tangy and bitter pairings to elevate the beef’s flavor profile. We didn’t try any of the cocktails because we’re both sans-alcohol but I got an NA hefeweisen that paired perfectly with both my halibut and his NY strip. Our entrées were wonderful! Great flavors, proteins cooked to temp, with perfect accompaniments. For dessert we had the honey crème-brûlée which was paired with the most divine Earl Grey ice cream. The portions are appropriate and neither of us left hungry. Colby snapped some photos of us and sent us off with some house-made meringue cookies. Honestly, this is one of my favorite “just because” dates. The food, ambience, and service really played a huge part in our experience. Can’t wait to go back!

We had an absolutely phenomenal dinner at Oak Park. Service was perfect; and all the food and cocktails were fantastic. We particularly loved the caviar cones, gnocchi, mushrooms, the filet entree, beet salad, and the duck pasta. I personally really enjoyed the carrot Wellington as well. And we finished with the fancy banana split – very expensive but delicious and has lots of tasty and visually appealing elements.

All in all, a very pricey, but fantastic dinner. We will certainly plan to return and try additional items!
