Speaking as a New Yorker, this place aint it. My first red flag was they don’t have boneless ribs. Huh?? In my big age, I’ve never seen that anywhere before.
An order of boneless ribs is how we test the place to see how the other food will be, because if you can’t make boneless ribs… you probably cant make anything else.
I should’ve walked out then, but against my better judgement I decided to give the place a chance… and I instantly regretted it.
When I got my beef and broccoli combo, the beef didn’t taste right as far as texture or flavor.
The fried rice was plain. Apparently the south doesn’t know that vegetables and pork go into the fried rice, its mandatory. You don’t have to order “pork fried rice” separately, its already supposed to come like that. Go up north and order a combo plate, I guarantee you the fried rice will have pork and vegetables in it. The only time you’ll get it plain is if you ask for it, and they’ll probably look at you sideways.
Anyway, the eggroll had no crunch to it, and it was thin.
I will say the crab rangoon was pretty good.
What drew me in was the pictures of the food, and while the food LOOKS good… looks can be deceiving, because the taste is just not it.
After 3yrs, I’m still on the hunt for a decent Chinese food place in Gastonia.
China Cafe on Union is better than this place, so go there instead. Although I don’t care for their crab rangoon, and the rest of their food isn’t as good as NY… its as close as you’re gonna get down here, sadly.

Fresh, hot, and delicious! Really good vegetable lo mein. Sha cha chicken has just the right amount of spice. Honey chicken will melt in your mouth. Best lo mein compared to other local Chinese restaurants. Staff was friendly and attentive. I highly recommend the vegetable lo mein, honey chicken, Sha cha chicken, sweet & sour chicken, beef with broccoli, peppered steak, shrimp fried rice, and black peppered chicken.

We tried the chicken chow mein (2 stars) – it had no flavour and was very disappointing, and the chicken mei fun (2.5 stars) which tasted like turmeric had more flavour than the chow mein. Was quite excited to try it out but after eating here I don’t think we’d be returning again. The plus side is that the server was very friendly, helpful and polite, and portion sizes are large so that’s why we’re rating it 3 stars. I don’t think it was worth the price though.

I always appreciate a restaurant with real plants as decor. I enjoyed the portion size of the cashew chicken. Flavorful and affordable. Nice owner and servers too. They also have huge high resolution photos of the entrees to help you decide what you want.

Me and my family has been eating here for years! Ever since I was a kid I’ve loved this place. The food taste amazing. The place some times looks “dirty” but that’s only because the building is old. To those complaining about “bag leaks” it’s literally Chinese food of course it’s going to leak that doesn’t mean the food is bad. Also you get a lot of food for the price. This is a kids plate (Pic below) I recommend this place 100% to anyone
