Me and my partner went one evening for some food. We wanted to try here for a while and it had really good reviews. The inside looked cool, some Mexican themed things etc. The waitress was lovely and very bubbly. She was very helpful with deciding what to have. I, myself have had some very good Mexican food over the years and was super excited to try this place. My partner ordered a mojito and I ordered the horchata. Mojito was okay but the horchata was dreadful. The consistency should be like rice pudding but was watery and lacked flavour.
We then ordered 3 things to sample the menu: chicken nachos, chicken tacos and mixed enchiladas. The nachos were interesting. The chicken mix on top of the nachos was flavourless and soggy, not very pleasant. I do like sour cream but every plate was drenched in it. The nachos themselves were just nachos so no issues there.
The chicken tacos were crispy which was good but they were mostly potato and very little chicken. Colours looked good but was drenched in sour cream, very little seasoning. Then the enchiladas came… We got the mixed ones to sample them all. They were terrible. Soggy, flavourless and not very warm. Again… covered in sour cream. The red salsa was the better one which was warmer and had more chicken. The other 2 were nearly cold and almost slimy in the inside. Barely any chicken in them.
We can understand if a restaurant wants to cut costs and same some money here and there but with everything, it came to just over $85. The staff were lovely but the food was very disappointing. We aren’t the type of people to ask for money back and to be fair we only took some bites out of the food so we didn’t eat near half of the plates. This might have been a “bad night” or a new chef but the photos and reviews compared to our experience was very much not what we thought. This review was from a good place and not targeted in any unfair manor. Thanks for having us.

We so wanted to like this place, we are suckers for authentic Mexican. The cheese enchiladas were drenched in sour cream….and either the cheese or sour cream was bad. One bite and my partner and I both were done eating at that point. The steak tacos were not good. The meat wasnt hot, and was an odd colour.

The location is unique.

The service was horrible. The young man working was in jogging pants, and was almost in slow motion. Just us and one other table came in at same time. We waited a while for menus.

Either or, other reviews are mostly decent. Perhaps just an off day but so bad we wont be trying again.

I can’t decide what’s better, the food or the staff, because both are phenomenal. This is mine and my friends favorite place and we always choose Gaxiola when it’s time for us to meet up. The food is always amazing and the staff is so friendly and attentive and I’m
SOOOOO excited they will be opening up a second location in Moncton because now I won’t have to travel as far to get the best and most authentic Mexican food in the area!

4th time back and we still can’t get over how awesome the food is! Tacos Dorados were sublime . I normally want to try everything on a menu, but I keep going for the Mixte Dorados – a trio of flavours, they’re so good I can’t imagine anything better. We’ll be back ❤️

This was my fourth time here and it was just as fantastic as the previous three times. Authentic Mexican food is hard to find in New Brunswick but we happily drove half an hour to eat here. So delicious.

We had the most delicious lunch today at Gaxiola Mexican restaurant! Every mouthful was a burst of delicious, authentic flavours. Delia, our server, was delightful. She was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Also, it is obvious how much the owners care about their customers’ experience as they stopped at each table to check in and thank each person for coming. I highly recommend this gem of a restaurant. You won’t be disappointed!

Been meaning to check this place out for a while and we finally had a chance this weekend – great spot, cool atmosphere, I can’t say I’ve ever had authentic Mexican food however I’ve had plenty of westernized Mexican food and from what I can tell this place was authentic. Everything was delicious, their in-house salsa is SO GOOD, we even picked up a bottle before leaving to have at home. There doesn’t seem to be much for vegetarian options, there are some but most things seem meat based (they may be able to substitute, I didn’t ask). But the flavours of everything we had were great. Prices were a bit higher but portions were big and definitely worth it. Would recommend for anyone looking for something a little different! We will be back!

One of the only authentic Mexican restaurants in the area, hell, maybe the province! Food was delicious and fairly priced, and there were a lot of traditional items I wasn’t familiar with that I’m eager to go back and try. Only downside was that they had no Mexican-style beer on hand (though apparently they do normally carry it).

It’s also next to the antique mall (one of my favorite places in NB), the Salisbury market, and a pizza/ice cream parlor. Going to be one of my favorite spots this summer, 100%.
