Off-roaders head to this storied joint in a funky Old West ranch for burgers, beer & outdoor seats.

Finally I was able to make it to Slash X!!! For years I have heard about it and the rides my husband would take with family and friends over the years to this place he held so many memories!!! We camped at Outlet Center Drive aka Sidewinder and took the drive in our Jeep with my boys on their dirtbikes following. Was a great little ride handsome much fun!!! We arrived and were greeted with friendly faces!!! The chili fries were so bomb we had to make another trip back on Sunday to order more, and added mozzarella sticks this time around and they were just as delicious!!! Cute spot to stop in, for a bite to eat or cold beer!!! The ladies restroom was so cute I had to snap a photo of it! I loved the decor and vibe!!! We will definitely be back to visit on our next camping trip!!! Such a fun place!!!

Stumbled across this gem out on Hwy 247 and what a spot! The Slash X Ranch Cafe delivers that “road-trip meets desert hangout” vibe: off-road vehicles lining up outside, rustic decor rich in history, and a menu that hits just right after a ride or a long drive. As their own website puts it: “All dirt roads lead to the Slash X.
I grabbed a burger and fries, enjoyed the laid-back patio, and appreciated the family-owned feel (they’ve been going strong for 60+ years).
Whether you’re riding quads, exploring trails, or just craving a hearty bite off the beaten path, this place earns a stop. Will definitely be back!

Great place, food just wasn’t as good as I thought it would be for a place like this. Great people, great atmosphere, cool history but the burgers could have been better. Cajun fries weren’t tossed just thrown on top and ranch was not my favorite. Only had 2 beers on tap, no tequila.

This was our pickled fries and onion rings.
No moisture to the pickled fries it was pickle skin and burn breading. The same with the onion rings. My son had a double meat burger which he said was really good and the fries. I work and live in Barstow area. This was our first time eating there.
Service was good. Everyone was nice.
The atmosphere was pretty cool.
We ate at 4pm. After the rush. We were there for a fall event.

We were here as Harvest Host guests overnight. We had a dinner last night of grilled chicken sandwich and a corn dog, with 2 generous glasses of 805 beer. Not crowded on a Sunday night. Lovely sunset!

I recently visited a restaurant/bar in Barstow, CA and I must say, it was one of the coolest places I’ve been to. The atmosphere was fantastic, the employees were friendly and the food was amazing. It’s definitely worth a stop, especially if you’re out on the trails. What’s even better is that you can trail to and from the place, so no need to deal with streets and pesky concrete roads. Overall, a wonderful spot for lunch or a casual hangout. I highly recommend checking it out if you’re in the area!

This is 9 miles outside of Barstow, but it comes up when you Google Best Breakfast in Barstow. The food is excellent and there’s a great choice. The hats on the ceiling and the solid wood tables are kitschy, and it was decorated for Valentine’s Day which is also charming.
Solid recommend.

My son and I were visiting the area. Decided to stop at Slash X. I have passed by there for years and never stopped to eat. Back in the early 90s a friend and I used to ride our dirt bike from the far north end of Lucerne Valley to Slash X and then back home. The food was absolutely delicious. I had the cycle burger. Two beef patties, cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle, I had them add an Ortega Chilli and grilled onions. It hit the spot. When you enter, the order counter is right in front of you. Once your order is placed you can seat yourself, and they will call you over a speaker. We Dat outside in the back. Where they had a guy singing country western songs. Nice experience. I will definitely stop in again when I’m in the area. Prices were affordable, and the portions were satisfying. I stayed full all the way home to Arizona.
