Order accuracy is a persistent problem here

I order from this location frequently, and unfortunately they almost always get something wrong. My most recent visit was by far the worst.

Today they forgot the steak in a “Steak” Build Your Own meal. Previous orders have been missing the juice, the chips, or both. This keeps happening.

If there were a way to give this location a zero, I would. This was not a minor inconvenience but a clear breakdown in basic restaurant standards. Management needs to take a hard look at what is happening at this store.

There are some serious concerns about this Chipotle location in Morris Plains on Route 10. I arrived at the designated time for my online order pickup, only to find a crowd of customers waiting by the pickup counter with no employees fulfilling orders. It took nearly 10 minutes before a young employee finally began addressing the backlog.

Once she started, she announced that the restaurant was out of steak. Immediately, several other employees echoed the same message. When they asked if customers wanted to substitute another meat, I explained that steak is the most expensive option and that we would need a refund for the difference.

At that moment, another employee announced that they had found the steak — it had been stored on the wrong shelf. Not only is this completely unacceptable, but it also raises serious concerns regarding proper food handling and temperature safety.

Because they had to start cooking the newly discovered steak, online orders were delayed by roughly 30 minutes past their fulfillment times. This is not simply “an inconvenience”—this is a breakdown in basic operational standards.

Once my order was finally ready, I went to fill my drink and was completely taken aback. The entire beverage area was filthy (see attached photos). The counter, the machine, the area underneath—everything looked like it had not been cleaned in a very long time. This alone is enough to call into question the level of oversight and leadership in this location.

When I arrived home, the rice and beans were missing from my quesadilla meal.

Chipotle’s “Our Commitment to You” page claims they are committed to leading in food safety, maintaining clean and sanitary restaurants, and providing a reliable, quality customer experience. This location failed every single one of those commitments:
• Food safety leadership? The staff didn’t even know where the steak was kept.
• Cleanliness? The beverage station was visibly and embarrassingly filthy.
• Customer support? When I attempted to report these issues through Chipotle’s online chat, the system closed the conversation telling me “Your order was completed on time,” which was simply untrue.

Whoever is managing this Morris Plains Chipotle should be ashamed of the conditions of the restaurant and the lack of basic operational control. Additionally, Chipotle corporate should seriously reconsider what “commitment” means if customers cannot even report legitimate concerns without being dismissed.

This experience reflects a complete failure of quality standards for a restaurant.

Chipotle wants to make it a point that there have reached the point of no return. The only way they can go is down all the way. Firstly in the queue , we were asked to wait as the rice was not there. Though they had ample time to make another batch. Then they scrape all the old dried rice from the leftover container and put it on top of the fresh rice. When we got it was all crunchy. Also the upper management must have ordered them to make the order look full. Fill it up with Rice so that they have to add negligible amount of meat. It does not stop here. Then they make us wait again because there was another customer who was angry so they wanted to get that order first. Finally paying time they did see my irritated face and decided not to give me the receipt. I have loved Chipotle all my life, but this seems like the point that i have to go somewhere else to enjoy some good food.

Half my ingredients were missing- ordered a steak bowl- my rice, corn, and cheese were missing, guac was added when I didn’t even order it. So I have steak, beans and guac with a few peppers when I requested extra. Tasteless dinner and all chipotle does is offer a free drink that expires in a month.

This is by far the most dysfunctional Chipotle I’ve ever visited. The staff treats customers like an inconvenience instead of the entire reason the restaurant exists. Every visit comes with eye-rolling, attitude, and responses that make it feel like ordering food is somehow asking too much.

They also can’t manage the simple concept of opening on time. I’ve shown up at the posted opening hour more than once only to find the doors locked while employees shuffle around inside at their own pace, or I’m told to wait while they slowly get themselves together. If you post an opening time, be ready to serve.

The environment is uncomfortable and outright hostile. Employees stare, whisper, and make customers feel judged while ordering. I’ve watched them laugh and make comments after people walk away, which is beyond unprofessional and completely unacceptable in any customer service setting.

And the place is clearly not maintained. The soda machine still wasn’t fixed, and during one visit it malfunctioned and sprayed Coke everywhere, soaking us and leaving a sticky mess. Staff acted like it was no big deal no apology, no urgency, no effort to handle the situation professionally.

This location doesn’t just have bad service it has zero accountability, zero professionalism, and zero respect for customers. Management needs to step in immediately because the current staff is driving people away. If they can’t treat customers decently or keep the place running properly, they have no business working in customer service.

Never coming back.

This Chipotle isn’t that bad. Although they need to improve cleanliness and overall service but we had some really good experiences here. We always got generous portions, and the food always felt fresh.

I went in here yesterday for an early dinner, the place was empty, the food looked dried out. I ordered a burrito to go and as soon as I bit into it I regretted even ordering. The steak was hard, burned and dry, The rice was hard, and everything was cold. It was DISGUSTING. There were like 6 people working too so I could not understand how they could all allow such poor food quality. I should have checked the reviews, you’re at 2.9 stars and honestly that even generous. Chipotle needs to get some real management and not these 20 year old kids that only care about taking selfies and being on their phones.

I’ve always had issues with this location since 2018. The food quality is low compared to other locations and they are always under staffed. My last order was bland as if they forgot seasoning and the rice was barely cooked. During busy times, it could take longer than it should to place an order or even pick up an already placed order. In the end I love chipotle but my last trip two weeks ago reminded me why I don’t visit this location.

I have never left a bad review before but my experience at this Chipotle was so bad I have to. I was charged for something they didn’t have and waited 15+ minutes for a manager to come out for a refund. No apology and overall odd social interaction. It was weird.
I’m noticing a lot of people are saying the same and I’m wondering why corporate has not stepped in. We just moved to the area and love Chipotle but will travel to another so we don’t deal with this place again

Wish I read the reviews before going here. Agreed with all the other reviews, terrible service, terrible food, stale chips, and forbid they learn to pack the food. This was a 3 min ride home. Yes the first guy there was friendly, everybody else on the line, specifically the 2 mentioned in other reviews are horrendous. Go get another job if this this a burden for you. He could barely wrap a burrito, and was asking me what else I wanted on my bowl while I’m still ordering another entree. Lack of training and professionalism here. Will not return and do not recommend. Thankfully I had a BOGO so saved money on this terrible experience.
