LOVE EVERYTHING about Marilyn’s Cafe! Food, service, atmosphere and not bothered at all about their cash only policy. Had our first breakfast visit yesterday and know we will be back again real soon to explore lunch.

This was our first time here but not our last . The staff is amazing and found out family run the grandson that took care of us took real pride telling us it was his grandparents place and all family run. He took real pride in his job. Places like this do not exist anymore and it is said . The food was out of this world . Will definitely be back . Oh the chicken in the basket is amazing and the chicken orzo soup was really good also

This place was small and cozy but beautiful, with all the walls covered in Marilyn Monroe-inspired artwork. Keep in mind that this café only accepts cash. There’s an ATM at a pizza place next door, though the fee is $6. As for drink options, they don’t offer fresh-squeezed juices or smoothies, which was disappointing, but they do have typical sodas, bottled juice, tea, and coffee. The home fries and sausage were delicious and highly recommended. The pancakes were decent, though I wish they were fluffier. I asked for scrambled eggs, but they looked more like an omelette and needed more salt.
Please note that this café is not wheelchair-friendly. The tables are very close together, and the aisles are not wide enough for a wheelchair to pass through to the bathroom. The bathroom itself is very small; when using the toilet, you touch the wall, which can be uncomfortable for larger individuals.

With several tables open, the owner asked us to leave our table and move to the counter if we were going to continue to chat.
It was 11 so hardly the breakfast rush, and the 2nd time this happened. I would understand if there were no tables and a line waiting to get in but that was not the case.
We will find somewhere else to meet and hope for a better atmosphere.
Plus – you have to pay for water!

Visiting Chester from L.A and found perfect small diner experience in the cutest town of Chester. Food and service was excellent, we met the owner and he was a gem so was his wife Marilyn. A must see place for a Marilyn lover.

Cute cafe!
Friendly staff and good food. The strawberry Bavarian crepe didn’t seem to be prepared as a normal crepe would be, it almost felt like it was fried in oil instead of butter.
Be aware that they take cash only but there are ATMs nearby.

Very nice ambiance and very friendly service. Menu is a bit expensive but has a lot of options which is nice. Unfortunately, the chili in my ‘chili omelet’ was pretty bad… tasted like a paste/mush that was not fresh. Not good chili for an almost $15 omelet. I’d rather be told they don’t have fresh chili than be given that. The blueberry muffin was very bland & didn’t taste fresh or homemade but we didn’t ask so that’s on us. A real turnoff is that you can’t get water unless you pay almost $4 for a bottle of water. Never seen this at a sit-down restaurant. So we ended up paying another almost $8 for water and had to waste plastic bottles we didn’t need!? Not a fan. Definitely a cool place and maybe we just had a bad experience but I wouldn’t return based on our visit.

Not you typical strip mall eatery. A hidden gem. Been there twice. First time I had a tuna melt and second time the Happy Waitress open face grill cheese. My husband had eggs Benedict and second visit, lasagna. All meals were delicious, plentiful and served hot. The servers were very pleasant, checking to see if we needed anything.
The inside decor is amazing, lots of Marilyn Monroe memorabilia. Even the rest rooms are decorated with homey signs. We will be back.

Stopped in late on a Monday morning. We were seated immediately and the two servers working were both polite and friendly. We ordered a sausage, egg, and cheese on a roll and the happy waitress. The happy waitress was tasty but came on a very lightly toasted white bread so it was a bit soggy. If ordered again would request it with well toasted rye bread. I would recommend the sausage, egg, and cheese and would definitely go back.

Totally a classic! The food was fantastic and exactly what you would expect to see in a Jersey Diner. The staff was friendly and welcoming and the service was on point. Best scrapple anywhere and you can’t go wrong with SOS (chipped beef on toast). This place was so good, we had to go back the very next weekend. Stop in, you won’t be sorry.
