It’s a decent Chinese takeout place. Food is good, and service is fair.
There are some tables and chairs, so you can sit down and eat your food if there’s any empty seat. Food is served in a takeout container (photos). Among many expensive eateries and restaurants in Bar Harbor, this is one of a few reasonable choices of eatery for sure. Closed on Sunday & Monday.

I ordered the thick,flat noodles. They gave me the different type. The other one is the egg with fried rice, but there is no egg,only rice. I am very disappointed, because my family and I came this Chinese restaurant every time when we were in Bar Harbor, ME. We won’t be back again.

General Tso’s chicken was sooooo amazing taste. Cantonese seafood fried noodle was great too. Taste wise, it was five stars. I am sure I will be back especially for general tso’s chicken. Their sauce was amazing.

I was a bit concerned when I read some of the reviews saying the food was not as good as I had hoped. But I found the food quite acceptable and tasty. It is true, that it’s basically only takeout, however, you can eat at their tables. The owner said they simply have trouble keeping staff and therefore they cannot wait the tables. We were served in takeout containers with plastic utensils, which is just fine. There were not very many guests so we had a great environment for chatting. The place was clean, and prices very reasonable. That is hard to find in Bar Harbor!

Our first stop in Bar Harbor as we were craving some quick warm food. We went on a Saturday evening and they were only open for takeout. So we placed an order and waited for about 20 minutes to pickup.
For the most part, the food was okay. The egg and shrimp was very watery and bland, but the calamari and beef were quite flavorful. In general, the prices were pretty high for Chinese takeout, especially in comparison to the prices of fresh seafood restaurants in Bar Harbor.
There’s also only one parking spot available in the front, designated as a pick up parking spot. So as with most places in Bar Harbor, parking is super difficult to find.

I really was expecting to like this place. After several meals consisting of sandwiches and burgers, I was hoping for some spicy food.
But I was somewhat disappointed at China Joy. The walls were dirty, there were dead bugs and debris on the window sills, no A/C, and the food was not appetizing nor inexpensive. Only thing positive was our waitress was friendly and quick.
I’m sorry to leave a critical review and hope the owners view it as constructive and improve the place.

First review I have ever written. Which should tell you everything you need to know about how bad the food is here.
Ordered a pork fried rice. There are more eggs in a vegan salad than there was in this pork fried rice. Pork? More pork in a Jewish barmitzvah. It was rice with a side of rice and occasionally a sprinkle of something that looked like pork.
I have made better pork fried rice from leftover scraps.
