I called ahead before ordering takeout from Ciao Haus Pub. When they answered under a different name, I asked if this was previously Private Party. They said yes. I specifically asked if the food was the same, and they told me it was. That turned out to be very much not true.
We ordered two seafood platters with perch, cod, and shrimp. The shrimp used to be fresh, hand-breaded, and delicious when this was Private Party. Now it’s the frozen, pre-breaded kind you could buy at a grocery store. Worse, when you bite into it, there’s hardly any shrimp inside—it was hard, tasted like cardboard, and we ended up throwing it away from both platters.
The perch was soggy, like it had been sitting under a heat lamp, though the beer-battered cod was decent. Potato pancake was just okay. Waffle fries were exactly that—waffle fries. Overall, it felt like I threw half my money in the trash.
I was told the food hadn’t changed, but it absolutely has. Unless they bring back the quality and fresh shrimp from before, I won’t be going back.
Update: Check out the response from the restaurant. I can safely tell you that the breaded shrimp is entirely different than what I had been served previously. My guess is that the restaurant ran out of fresh shrimp that night and served us crap that has been sitting in the freezer forever and thought they could get away with it because we ordered it as take out OR they changed the breaded shrimp and don’t want to admit it. Either way I wasted a ton of money and was told to come back and ask for so and so and we will make your visit special. NOT what I am looking for, everyone should be getting that treatment. WILL NOT BE BACK!

We went for the fish fry. Great option that my wife is gluten free. She had gf cod and I had regular perch. Unfortunately the gf oil used had an odd taste and both were super greasy.

We had a wonderful meal on Saturday night. The Reuben rolls were great. Pizza (the “Special”) was excellent: thin, crispy crust, plenty of red sauce, and generous toppings. Came out hot! Wife had the chicken avocado sandwich and chips. Fantastic! Fine service, cold drinks, clean and friendly … the only thing missing was more guests! So get yourself to Private Party, it’s definitely open to the public!

Stopped in after seeing ads in the lake county 411. So happy I did! Suzy and Ann were amazing, said hello as soon as we walked in, had ample info on the specials and drinks. Had the patty melt, wings, and the reuben rolls. Came out quickly was hot and not at all greasy! It was all very good. Tap beers were also very crisp and cold . Will definitely be back! The only thing missing was more people, dont hesitate to stop in! You won’t regret it! 🙂

We enjoyed Friday fish fry last evening. Everything from the welcome at the door, to the seating, serving of the food, and the food itself was exceptional! The friendliness of the staff was a bonus. We have eaten at Private Party on several occasions and have been quite pleased each time.

We ordered takeout, got a cheese sausage mushroom onion pizza, mozz sticks, and cheesey bread…. The pizza is PHENOMENAL! Really is one of the best pizzas we’ve ever had anywhere!! It knocks the socks off of any other pizza in a 20 miles radius FOR SURE. The mozz sticks were a great size and tasted amazing, crispy and cheesey. The food was NOT greasy at all. I’m gonna tell everyone I can about how good the food was! Will definitely be back for an in person try next time! Keep up the good work guys!
