Our restaurant, La Taqueria DC started as a casual conversation between two old friends about better quality Mexican fare being brought to the Northern Virginia Washington DC area. Our founder, Freddy Vargas, and his hermano (close friend/brother) decided to combine their 40 + years of Mexican restaurant experience into a place like no other. La Taqueria DC was founded on the relationship between delicious, old-family recipes and true Mexican / SoCal culinary culture. All of our dishes are house – made, combining only the freshest ingredients utilizing Mexican culture.

Wings were good & probably the tastiest item on their menu. Tacos were decent..very bland so was a little disappointed with that but service was exceptional. Nice little restaurant in the cut.

We arrived to order to go. Placed look clean and a few of customers were dining in. We realized the dining room was in another room. She warn us it’s going to take longer than usual but it’s our first time so the anticipation was good and expectations were high. The order took about 37 minutes, no big deal, we couldn’t wait to try.
When we got home, we tried everything. Guacamole was kinda bland. The chips were ok. Chicken taquitos were under seasoned. The tacos carnitas were under seasoned as well. Possibly the taquitos were great above all. My girlfriend had the taquitos Birria and street corn. She mention if they had the Birria broth with her taquitos.
The packaging and presentation looked very good.
We were impressed the other items coming out the kitchen like the burgers. Will try again for the burgers next time.

The pizza place, burger joint, and taco spot are all run out of one kitchen. In my opinion one place can’t make that many different types of cuisine well.
There was a bit of a wait for the tacos but there’s a sign that warns you about that so I wasn’t bothered. Nonetheless I ordered tacos and they looked amazing. I got the carne asada, carnitas, and fried chicken taco.

The fried chicken one was good the pickled onions were flavorful but too much breading on the chicken, barely any meat. The carnitas one was the best but not exceptional. The quality of the tacos was excellent. I do not like how small the salsa portions were for the tacos ordered and the waitress took over 10 minutes to even come and announce herself and then another 10 minutes to grab our food. I did appreciate her listening to me when I said that the portion for the salsa that comes with the Tacos is small. She brought me a bigger size, but it should automatically be big enough for the customers to enjoy with the tacos, which brings me to the next point5.50 $ per taco is way overpriced Mexican tacos are not uncommon in Northern Virginia and $5.50 for a Birria taco is just way too much. I might try this place again but probably for takeout because eating outside when it’s really cold wasn’t the best scenario and eating inside in front of the kitchen wasn’t either. This place needs more hot drinks on the menu specially if we’re (the customers) are mainly sitting outside and it’s cold. So I asked for hot tea or coffee and was told “we don’t have any” which instantly was really offputting It would’ve been nice to have some traditional Colombian hot chocolate, tea or coffee on the menu so for this I give it a three stars.

This taqueria is not easy to find and will probably only be known to locals who frequent the industrial Springfield district off the beaten path of Backlic Road.
The venue carries 3 menus: American, Mexican, and Italian. I ventured through at around 4 pm on a Thursday and picked up the Mango Habonero wings for my bestie, the Bella Vita Pizza, and the Fried Chicken tacos.
The manager was very personable and shared that everything is made on site and the ladies behind the counter seemed to enjoy their work. There was a bit of a wait. A few people came on during my wait and grabbed tacos to dine in and about three people picked up to go orders. I would probably do this in the future. The inside area is rather tight. There are picnic tables outside for outdoor dining but not the best right now due to the heat.
I enjoyed the pizza but the crust was pretty hard like old garlic bread but the toppings were top notch. My beatie enjoyed the wings but had a critique of the sauce stating that it was more like jelly than sauce. ♂️ The tacos were a hit….The chicken tacos tasted good….the pleasing flavor combination of red cabbage, jalapeños, special sauce and lime squeeze were remarkable and I would return for this menu especially.
It should also be noted that there is a bar full of frozen margarita drinks on tap with a Virgin option that I would definitely return for.

Parking lot available and it’s 3 different restaurants here. Small two top high tables available for dining in and I think some outdoor seating. I suppose most puerile get it to go. The staff was super friendly and we ordered Street Corn, The Big “Juan”, and Beef Birria Quesadilla. The Street Corns were good but something was missing in terms of flavor. The entrees were massive! Great flavors and would definitely order from here if you’re hungry and sharing with people.
They do serve bottled beer and water here but no water station to just get a water cup. Overall a good place and delicious food.

The food is very average and a bit expensive for what it is. If you ever have an issue and reach out to the restaurant though, good luck on ever hearing back from them. I tried 3 times to address an issue and no one will ever respond. They also allow car meetups on the property that you can hear for miles around the neighborhoods. Best to just avoid them.

My third time eating here and I can say that this place has some of the best Mexican food ever. Their quesadillas are PHENOMENAL. Excellent portion sizes, tasty margaritas, friendly and efficient staff. Can’t say enough good things about this place. I’ve lived in other areas known for their Mexican food-this one definitely meets that standard in the NOVA area!

I recently visited this establishment and unfortunately had a very underwhelming experience. The tacos were dry and bland, lacking the flavor and quality one would expect for the price. Additionally, the drinks were overpriced especially considering they were just simple frozen lemonade, which was not worth the cost.
What was even more frustrating was the lack of transparency regarding gratuity. I was not informed that a tip had already been included in the total, and to my surprise, I was asked to leave another tip through the payment machine. This lack of communication felt deceptive and left a sour impression.
Overall, I was disappointed with both the food and the service, and I doubt I’ll be returning in the future.

Wow the food was great!
Birria quesadilla was cheesy & meaty (they definitely did not skimp on the MEAT) I was wondering why the quesadilla was $15(on doordash) BUT they literally give you a whole pie!
The Birria taco was just as good.
I also got a carne asada(steak) taco that was okay (alot of gristle in the meat)
Definitely will be ordering from here again.
